Check your port fowarding in the router first. Also XP machines need a lot of security settings changed to work with the downloadable software on the remote machine.

My Amateur Radio Forum

Go to www.portforward.com and down the page under 'our routers' section you will find an alphabetical list of routers. Find yours and it will tell you how to set up the port forwarding.

address the port forwarding to your dvr address (192.168.2.5) port 80.

Once you've done that, open up your internet browser and type in the address, usually followed by

:(colon)80. For instance, if your address is http://80.46.118.36 then you would type

http://80.46.118.36:80.

You can use your remote pc software for your dvr box - if you've got any.

Ideally, you should have a static address because if it changes you won't get anything.

You can do it with a dynamic address but you need to go through a host such as dyndns.com
