How Do I Wire A Pyronix Belle/cqr Sentra In Series.

Featured Replies

I recently had to upgrade my alarm panel because the old one died on me. I replaced the old Menvier TS400 with a new Ade Optima Compact Gen4. At the same time I also added another sounder (Pyronix Belle) to the CQR Sentra sounder I already had.

The install went well and everything tested ok with just the Sentra attached or, with just the Belle attached. When I attached both I couldn't get the sounder to work on the Belle although the strobe worked ok. The Sentra still worked perfectly.

I should say that I used to be a qualified Engineering Manager before I retired - mainly mechanical but I did have a working knowledge of electrics.

These are the terminal markings (ignoring the strobe):

Optima Panel terminals:

T -ve tamper return

A -ve supply 0v

D +ve supply 12v

B -ve sounder trigger

Belle terminals:

BT Tamper return

B- Hold off -ve supply

B+ Hold off +ve supply

BA Bell trigger

TF Tamper feed

Sentra Terminals:

1 Siren trigger

2 Hold off -ve supply

3 Hold off +ve supply

4 A/T Return sig.

These are the connections I used (ignoring the strobe).

Panel A to Sentra Hold off -ve

Panel D to Sentra Hold off +ve and Belle B+

Panel B to Sentra Siren trigger and Belle BA

Panel T to Belle BT

Sentra A/T Return SIg. to Belle B-

Belle TF to Belle B- (Link as stated in the Belle manual)

Sentra A/T to Sentra Hold off -ve (Link as stated in the Optima manual, but I am not too sure if I interpreted this correctly)

Both sounders are configured to be SAB's.

Can anyone tell me why I can't get the Belle sounder to operate please.

not sure about mis matching bells, but does one not need to be in 'scb mode'

tbh this is way and above the remit of the diy installers section, information required is to far to 'exotic' is needed and we can't be sure you would understand it with all respects due, could leave you without an effective system which means egg on our faces, and a possible law suit should the worst happen :cold2:

if you want to retain both bells get an engineer to scratch his head for you, while you make the tea and supply the choccy biscuits it is really the best idea but get a quote before engaging one.

If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

For a good job get both bells the same on front/back of house. There is no point of a mix bells.

this could cause problems in the future.

qfa, and quoting why could be another 'arfur novel' :fear: so decided to go the easier route :)

The Sentra still worked perfectly.

well thats a 1st, at one time it needed stuff chopping off the pcb to get more than one sentra to work in "series"

2x sounders with strobes will draw 8-900mA, & thats before you confess to the internal speaker (s) & 10 pirs nailed on it ;)

just how big a strobe do you fit Dave ?

If one of the bells has an SCB function, select that.

It just means the bell with SCB selected draws its current from the onboard bell battery instead of from the control panel when it's triggered.

Chances are, both bells and strobes, plus speakers/detectors etc are potentially drawing too much current from your panel.

Hope that helps.

sounder 300mA strobe 110mA x 2 of 'em = 820mA

nova 6 391mA + 72mA strobe x 2 = 924mA or low current mode 542mA

I managed to sort the wiring out myself the following day, It wasn't a problem once I decided to ditch the Engineer manual and work it out myself.

Thanks to those who posted helpful comments, as for afur mo :realmad: , or whatever your name is, your reply probably put off people posting helpful information.

Why have a DIY forum if you are not prepared to help DIYers? other than maybe telling them how to perform the basic of tasks? I would have thought it was obvious from my post that I am not a novice when it comes to electrics and wiring having worked in an Engineering department for 40 years.

Anyway, as I say I have sorted it myself so I can now take your advice about tea and choccy biscuits, only it will be me having them and not an "Engineer"

So "Regs" to you
