    Hi

I have a Honeywell Accenta/optima ADE Gen4 installed in my home. The system was already installed when we moved in.

I have the bell on the outside of of the garage with 1 display panel and Accenta mini panel on the wall inside the garage.

The 2nd display panel is under the stairs in the house, with a sonit 1 speaker above.

Last night the alarm sounded twice, about 2 hours apart. Each time I checked around the house, nothing to report. I didn't think of checking the log until this morning.

The alarm usually sounds when we have a brief power cut, so before I checked the log, I tried turning the power off and on at the fuse box to double check that the alarm does sound with mains power off. The alarm sounded, so I went to reset it, but the display on each panel is lit but displaying a line of black blocks. While I can reset the alarm and perform other functions on the display panel, I can't see any feedback displayed, other than the blocks in the photo.

I tried turning the mains power off and on again, with the same result. The display was working fine before the first time I tried turning the mains off.

The red power light is lit on the Accenta mini panel in the garage, although it is quite dim, it is on.

I have read other threads on similar problems, but nt this exact one.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    D

this will work for a few months but the battery isnt dead just the timer has shut it off. What it will do when it does start to go flat is anyone guess

On all my experience nothing will happen and its a matter of hours not months

The comfort LEDs will flatten the battery's remaining charge

    Hi,

I have an old GT 601 Alarm system that is not working ?  I am not an installer just moved in. I wish to shut it down, I have the Engineers code and user code  but worried if I shut it down, the outside bell will sound?  Does the Outside bell have internal batteries? And can I power it down completely.

    thanks

    2 ways of doing this

    Option 1

let your neighbours know, kill power to panel and wait 15min for the battery to die

    Option 2

Get a ladder, open bell, disconnect battery and power down system

No the hardware may belong to client. The programming does not. I can only speak for myself but unlocking is free at the office or done on site for a visit cost. Noone Imo should lock the programming without a free unlock option. Ewaste is an issue I'd agree

The main Issue i have here is there was a company here that fitted lots of HKC panels that were all engineer locked and now they gone out of business and no one has the engineer code and they are are all now basically useless

In my case the other companies have my engineer code and thier contact details if something happens to me

There is a defined line with fire systems and programming, you can service or work on a system and not change how the system functions.

If the system isn't operating as commissioned it will throw a fault. The commissioning engineer would remain responsible, that all makes sense.

I would say intruder most is not demarked in separate level menus like this and difficult to define like that if it hit the fan.

But yes it's how you or the insurance interpret it, I am certainly in agreement you should default on incoming.

The main thing I don't like about engineer locking is the fact it makes E WASTE and there has been some legal debates about engineer locking as the panel is customer equipment and you are making the customers unit unusable by another company

    Morning all,

I am doing a takeover on an old Abacus 15R intruder panel, does anybody have an install/user manual for one please?

I need to retrieve the master user and engineer code and I believe from memory there is way to do this without crashing the whole panel?

    Thanks in advance.

There is no way to default just the codes unfortunately

Feeling like a pro alarmist by recognizing the keypad ?

I just remembered the style when looking though the available options. Firstly pick what I need, then what the wife will visually find acceptable.

Orisec seems really good, but I think there android app could do with a UX designer and some TLC. Same with the touchscreen keypad, they still look dated, IMO anyway.

The app is functional but Definitely not pretty
