Thanks, I have one of the "Modern Alarms" bell boxes with these in, will get a pic. Well, mine didn't false alarm at all, during light tests I did, I'm impressed. I know, looked on Google for some pics. Don't know why they couldn't be as simple as the one that I made. Those Hexagon bell boxes were such a good design, shame they changed it. The idea of a foam detector is flawed anyway, by the time it has been squirted? in it would be too late.
Is that a high security modern box?

Probably used these battery (from a hoover thiefcheck
Eveready i think it was, cover is a bit small to house a few flag cells so probably anything they could find.

Nice wooden backplate. I believe this bellbox had a large relay in it and a giant resistor to charge the battery
Wouldn't of used a resistor as it used a dry cell battery.
Probably right about the large relay.

Was it fitted inside, it hardly looks used?
I think it was the internal bell box that housed the relays for the alarm system and the battery for the SCB module.

I've got a strange sounder at home, it's a Scanny eurobell plastic case with strobe upgrade for sure, but with a high security, anti drill, thick steel cased backplate that I am certain is nothing to do with scanny...
Have a feeling it came from a bank.
Oddly the tamper switches are like the ones I have on my fruit machine collection* and even more oddly they are the type that have a 'cheat' position where you can pull the plunger outwards to make (with a machine)
the central unit think the door is closed so you can playtest but still eb able to adjust stuff.
*of 2
I think the microswitchs are known as cherry, thorn used to use.

It's certainly done well for an early 2000s sounder

Yes
Ive just tested the anti drill terminals on an old ADT and you have to bridge it in order to activate the siren, so would a pressure mat do?

Yes
So i large circuit board or something with wires that go into the tamper terminals?

A bell with plastic lid can a have pcb with track which forms a 24hr circuit like cc wiring
A metal bell can a have circuit made between inner & outer cover which is completed by the drill bit
Can any of these be easily made?

Does anyone know how an anti drill tamper works and how i could make one myself?

What you want is the cheapest eBay screen printing kit to make a decent, vintage looking new decal for that lid, which is otherwise in cracking condition.
We had those exact same bells on our 1960s built school fire alarm I remember, until the year before I left they were upgraded to 1995-era electronic (but still Gent)
Thats what im thinking of doing, ive replaced some of bolts and capacitors that were in a state.

Only ever seen them on buildings, did once have a BNIB Initial Shorrock box but I sold it a while ago
That said since then I've picked up a proper old metal Chubb in reasonable condition, seen better, seen much worse, and that BNIB Modern Alarms hex so I'm not too sad*
Would love a white square dome style Securicor Granley still in the box!
*insert own disclaimer here
Ive got one of those metal square chubb boxs myself, does your have that big chloride gent glanger bell inside?

GRP cover with Blue plastic coated steel bracket,
I've removed dummies but never a live one
I think they had a master bell, SCB module, battery and micro switches inside

Self Contained Bell, uses it's own lead acid battery to sound the siren when triggered from panel.
Self Activating Bell, uses the panel voltage to sound the siren when trigger is low, or "hold off" voltage is removed which "self activates" the bell from it's NiCd. Many modern SAB's have a SCB style mode.
You'd find SCBs in chubbs, AFAs, brocks and all that and you'd find SABs in thorns, Abels, modern alarms, etc.

You mean scb mode uses internal battery to activate sounder and hold off is just charging
And sab mode draws power from panel hold off when bell activated
Both have a separate trigger
Or something like that
Yep

SCB where designed that way.
Tamper return will be +ve if the HO is +ve, you can see the tamper link is still fitted
I thought SCBs were the ones that had the voltage going directly to the bell box and when the alarm sets off, the hold off is cut sounding the bell using its own battery and SABs were the ones that had the trigger voltage?

You try the phone number?
Hmmmmmm no but i might just give it a try

Also the tamper return will be pos on that panel
Im guessing there was an especially made sab module that would go with the panel?

So it's for an old SCB then
Ill probably just run the tamper switch directly to the panel then put the hold off where it needs to go, then put the trig on the B terminal.

Does anyone know what a radiovisor panel would have looked like?
