I'm sure the benefits massively outweigh the guy who has just ordered stock of 60 x claw hammers. An engineer will always look at the gaffer and think they have it good as in there eyes your creaming the money of the top... Probably don't understand the effort gone into the sales enquiry and the general upkeep of the business let alone the stresses of keeping the company afloat. But that's business in general, everyone thinks there job is the most important.

How many positions are needed in 35 seconds...

My advice would be to read up on all the above and make sure you have a full understanding of everything you are doing or going to do. Knowledge is critical when used in the correct format! You can never learn enough, you have two ears and one mouth. Take in all information available and act accordingly! My honest opinion if you need to ask such basic questions i.e. what do I need tools, van etc. Then you aren't ready and you need to learn a lot more. But i'm just one opinion so go for it if you feel it's right! Good luck!

Can still be relocated away from the door with a magnet attached? Thought that was the whole point in the back tamper... The magnetic interference wouldn't kick in if the magnet is placed correctly first time round... (shouldn't this topic be in trade due to the potential of overriding a system) I know I'm not trade registered and granted I started the topic but it's gone a bit off track...

Any ideas why there is an emphasis on the back tamper for a standard door contact but not a roller shutter? Surely its a weakness, and slightly uncomfortable posting why in a public forum!

This may open a can of worms but..... Is that right as long as the device can and has implemented all the functions that grade 3 require it is then grade 3 compliant? The manufacturer doesn't need it to be signed of by any kind of inspection panel to give it it's grade 3 title? Almost like a manufacture self cert?

I dont believe there is one... I kind of pre guessed before posting but needed confirmation (whey)... Yeah I think I may have a look down that route, surprising nothing is out there though, suppose the demand isn't there...

How if at all do you get away with installing an optex IR beam within a premises linked onto a grade 3 intruder alarm? I'm hoping to install the SL-350QDM as an added extra across a series of long roller shutters. It already has two contacts either side on all shutters but the customer has asked for additional protection due to the chance of cutting through. I presume it doesn't comply as I've seen nothing in the data sheet to suggest otherwise. I have read something similar that it can be done but cant trigger a confirmed activation? Surely sticking it on a plug is just as bad if he has no idea about electrics? Who's to say he can wire a plug :-s Other than isolating the supply there isn't much difference between connecting a spur up or connecting a plug up....

Does beldon hold the same properties as cat5 to use it in a RS485 issue free?

I've had mixed feedback on what the best cabling for a RS485 line.. I'd say the risk of noise induction is medium on the site being installer and I'd like to know what is best to use. I've been told unshielded CAT5e by tech guys but curious what installers say... He said there is an on going argument about shielding weakens the signals but is to be used in harsh environments. Thanks...
