  1. Go to the bell and disconnect the battery, remove alarm panel internally - once power is removed from the panel the bell is totally dead, yes same connections but dependant on what panel is being installed will determine connections in the panel end (obviously). Check siren connections though incase the old installers have done anything dodge... IMO i'd replace with Galaxy but it's mainly up to you on which you prefer. Both do a good job.
  2. I don't have much insight into this but I'd guess that the insurance company will just point to the fact they don't exist anymore and the company that has gone bust aren't covered at the point of claim... Really could be a long road ahead and a big legal battle for someone...
  3. LOL... not sure if it was meant to sound like a long winded cliché?
  4. Site name could be used for remote access purposes to label the system? Not sure to be honest but that would be my guess - maybe a label for the APP to pick up on?
  5. Agreed but in a less overjoyed way )
  6. Is that something wrote into your contracts?
  7. Do you know what model they are, just having a quick look on there website and seems they have an addressable PIR which is daisy chained on a data line. Chances are it just a case of switching the resistors - resistor value depending on which panel your going to use - that's if it's using EOL (end of line) wiring.
  8. Thanks Timmo - I presume the URN fee applies even though it's a renewal?
  9. Never dealt with a police monitored intruder alarm from a company point of view - only installation so I have a few questions... - A site being taken over with existing Emizon kit - can this be reused and is considered the customers? I'm thinking this depends on the contract in place. - Does the new company have to re apply for a URN or does this stay with the building? - I'm presuming the local authority has to be informed by the new installer? ...
  10. Thats included in the 1/2hr... Seems legit
  11. I'm looking for some opinions... How long would you book an engineer in to maintain the following system? I'm only looking for time on site (not travel etc) Galaxy 520 (system is grade 3 with 136 zones installed - 100 DT's, 30 DC's, 6ish breakglass detectors) - G4 Dualcom installed Usual set up with SAB from and rear, building is roughly 200m x 100m and is mainly warehouse with a office setup at the front. ..
  12. It's more the "few months and I'll be trained" bit id be more concerned about...
  13. Does the dialler not have a direct trigger? If so just run whatever the trigger may be (+12v maybe?) through the fire panel relay. Job done, I'm not familiar with texecom so I'm presuming it doesn't have an onboard dialler which you are referring to?
  14. Disconnect one coax at a time until the other 3 pictures become clear, you've then narrowed the issue down, then do the checks above...
  15. I'd like to think your testing the tampers too...
  16. GJD GSM speech dialler is not bad, uses a pay as you go SIM card.
  17. Nice one... So having said that, is it a REQUIREMENT for the fire alarm to trigger these doors if a double pole break glass is fitted. Or is that an added nicety?
  18. What do the regs say about green break glass units on fire doors, are they needed if the fire alarm opens the door through a I/O unit? Or do they have to be present at all times, I was under the impression they had to be present as a manual override. A new site we looked at today only uses fire alarm as the override. Cant be right...? Say the emergency isn't fire related, or perhaps in this day and age a terrorist related attack, people may still need to use this route as an exit. I marked it down as a issue we need to look at rightly or wrongly...
  19. Electronic security and networking as a general are like oil and water at the moment in my opinion...
  20. Really depends on your setup, give SISS a call Monday, they'll ask you a load of questions about your circumstances then provide a quote the same day.
  21. Is there such thing as a professional wireless CCTV system? I haven't used wireless before, always been a bit wary on the CCTV side of things but is there such systems that can be used in the commercial world? (I am only talking commercial installs, I try to stay away from residential altogether) When I say commercial, I mean small//medium units, 50m x 50m along those lines. I've seen the wireless links that use a TX RX with a analogue cam into the one end but never a "Wireless camera" as such. I'm thinking along the lines of security huts that have no cable access, barriers with no coverage, turnstiles etc. If so any links would be appreciated,
