  1. no thats not what is being said.

You omit the landing so you can use the toilet on a night without setting off the alarm.

You come downstairs walk in front of the detector in the hallway and you want it to start the entry tones.Zone 2  the hallway PIR should be guard access type and dont go fiddling with the attributes as the chances are you are changing the system from the way it should work to something else.

if you change the zone to not used and then back to guard access it should behave as you want.

However be aware that changing settings with no understanding of the system or how it works is only likely to cause issues for you i the long term, get a pro in is my recomendation and make sure the whole system is done correctly.

  2. the main obstacle is getting the door contact transmitter far enough away for the steel container which your sending the signal out from.

Then you can worry about devices in waterproof boxes between the house and the container, I would have done some readings in the field to see what I have to play with.

  3. more a case of wanting just to move a detector because its in the way of the renovation and didn't want to activate the alarm, think the post was confusing, the system has never worked to their knowledge.

They have been advised however they should consider what they want to do if the alarm is to be reactivated or replaced.

  4. hello again, slightly different twist on this post I see or I misread the other.

if there's no lights on the panel would appear to have no power to it and hasn't for some time.

    1. Do you know the system works at (why has it been off for so long?)

    2. If you don't know its working do you know any of the cables are any good?

    3. As you know nothing about its integrity, you can check for continuity?

    4. depending on the level of renovation you may want to consider al out and new cables etc in place, rather than worry about finding them not working later.

    5. The mains, as said before, this needs to be isolated properly and left safe if you are refitting/ replacing the unit, at the moment you don't even know if there's power to the panel? it is not lit up or making any noises.

Get a pro to give you a quote to replace it and ask about moving cables and extra devices.

  5. I would contact Texecom and see what they can offer first, you may be pleasantly surprised.

My understanding Texecom will do free training at your premises if there is enough engineers to warrant it.

Alarm basics are the same, so its down programing, ricochet mesh (commissioning mode) and app programing(IT stuff), how to add certain 3rd party devices and use udl possibly.

Scenarios of what you use and do now may help them tailor something more to your needs.

  6. Looking for some who knows there stuff and has used Texecom PSU200's I suspect it will need at least one so theres sufficient power in alarm, but I haven't done an assessment on site so no idea how ugly it gets.

please  pm me with your credentials and I can pass you on the details.

Note: This alarm was installed by home automation people and has 3 keypads, 1 phone dialler, 26 PIRs, 3 indoor sounders, 5 smoke detectors, 2 door contacts, external bell box

This is over 4 x 8XP units, also looks like the panels spur is a switched spur.

I haven't seen the programming  so will need a comprehensive assessment to find any other issues that may be lurking around.

This system is integrated to home automation so familiarisation with this would be an advantage but as its setup already I cant see this being a major problem.

Being an Oldham business Secure I AM's next trip to London is IFSEC if at all.

  7. currently it appears you have an internal ip address and not an external one.

Once the notifications are setup and you have the app to update ip, it will take care of itself.

Just need to make sure you have the panel setup correctly

should be sia and not contact id, send sia text selected.

if version 3 then also need protocol options 2 set to the same comport the com ip unit is on (com1)

  8. any good I define as does it do what you and the customer want for the price you both want to pay.

does it have issues, well I think so and its on the bits that my customers are asking for where it falls down, and not 100% happy, so I am waiting on what can be done to make it the product for me to use.

Crazy situation when nothing these days works perfectly on all the features they have available, that said it does have a lot of nice features that work well.

  9. You don't need a dns, as the notifications send the ip out the app then updates with the lasts ip just like the dns would.(not quite the same process).

if you have set things up according to the manual, whilst I am sure I could sort this out for your remotely, I need to know what's what as it is now and I don't want to offend you but need to see it.

If you want to discuss give us a call by all means and see what I can do

  10. if you can use the app on the iphone, then the unit is working, most likely on the internal ip address and your connected to your wireless router.

If you cant access externally on another wireless network or mobile data connection then your port forwarding isn't right or your dynamic ip has changed or you have an internal ip address assigned in your app.

if your notifications are working then this wouldn't be an issue as the app gets updated with the latest ip address when it polls in to the Texecom server. The app set for update ip when you open  the connection for that system the ip updates  if its selected on the app.

not being able to do a test call suggest that the panel isnt programmed correctly to send out the notifications.

however you need to know a little about what your doing with the panel and routers, version 3 elite panels would require a little more work.

  11. theres no question about blame, the bus hit the van which was parked and it was captured on CCTV or more the fact the bus trying to get away was captured as it was hooked up so to speak  he had to reverse to get disconnected.

Just the whole process is so dam slow even though they accepted liability its still not settled in full and because iof the way the system appears to work I was surprised and have the ombudsman involved not that its done anything more thamn get me better informed since dragging them in.

Its sad but if it had been my fault it would have progressed much quicker. Not sure how to factor that into looking for insurance, lets face it accepting liability which the bus company did (even though that took about 4 days to show on the system) you would have thought it would make things easier not harder.

as for the OP, starting up isnt easy and there has been some good advice on here, between the thread filling.

Maybe he has gone away to digest the information and do his sums?

  12. I don't think your prepared in the slightest given the questions.

Costs of starting up, so how  much would you need?

What do you need to live on?

Where is the work coming from?

    What you going to charge?

What jobs can you realistically take on?

I haven't been trading long compared to some of the folk on here, they advised against it and it seriously isn't easy.

I get work in and times I am busy and ideally need another pair of hands and others I aint so busy.

What is your competition like, in my neck of the woods its heavy, I win some I lose some, recommendations are great, but to be recommended you need to get work in first?

What if your ill. or fall off a ladder?

What if some f'in bus hits your van and the insurance f'k you about messing up the jobs you have on, can you get what you need to tide you over and get working whilst your waiting. (happened to me before Christmas and it was a nightmare sorting things out rearranging jobs and still waiting for all the money back for the repairs, but if I waited for the insurance I probably still wouldn't be back on the road).

I  have a fair bit of stock and that stuff seriously adds up, yet must individual items aren't so expensive. Theres more bad weather on the way and how bad it is going to be we will have to wait and see, but migt be wishing I had a 4 x 4 or a boat....lol
