Hi Michael
Your house requires a system designed and installed to Grade A LD2 which is a full fire alarm system.
Your electricians are right not to get involved in something that will not conform to building regulations.
You should have been made aware of this at the design stage along with costs.

The aico 12v detectors i use, ei186, have a 9v battery and an internal sounder. When not connected to a panel they are essentially a standalone detector but with the added features of a relay output and 12/24v supply to increase battery life plus they are interconnectable. Those ones you have your cake and eat it.
other option is fit a load of mains/battery interconnected devices and fit a relay pattress base to the one closest to the panel and interface that way.
Good to go for a Grade D

i stand corrected, looks like the sounder circuit does need monitored for an open or short circuit fault
Thats not to say it cant be done. Just out of interest what sounders would you use? and how?

sounders shouldnt be such an issue, sounder upstairs and downstairs should be loud enough to be heard at every point at an adequate level.
Detection circuits easy to monitor With EOL. monitoring the sounder could be problematic, although im not aware of that being a requirement for a grade C
agree on the battery, 72 hour requirement would need a lot more than a little 7ah, even if the system was dedicated to just the smoke detectors and how power requirement for PIR's etc
chances of a wiring fault before a fire is detected is very slim. most wiring would be out of the immediate threat of any fire, at least to the point of the alarm would have detected a fire and alerted everyone in the property before it was compromised. you could however wire the detectors in FP if you wanted to (or if you're feeling very adventurous go for MICC)
bs 5839-6-2013 6.2
FP on the EOL detectors is a bit pointless I would rather it be on the sounders !

Sounders are the biggest problem after the 72h standby. Also all detection and sounder circuits need to be monitored.

No a digi on a PSTN line
Panel --> digi --> tel line --> ARC --> key holder
Cut the tel line when customer out/away ARC and therefore key holder have no idea of what's going on.

pstn comms do report polling failure
To your mobile app ? Only locally will it report failure.

yes got open+close / alarm, tamper alarm
so it don't do polling ?
so go on holiday, cut the line external of the premises & have all the time in the world to rob the property
You get that with a standard PSTN device as well as any wifi coms.
No it currently will not send you a push notification of polling problems like most of the other brands out there (I will email them to see if it can be added), unless you have the ARC GSM module and then your are monitored anyhow.

I had app panel on a wired card as test system on a bench
After testing it & getting notifications on alarm ectt.. I left it unplugged for months & never got any indication that it wasn't working via the app
Well you would if you were using the system correctly (setting/Unsetting notifications switched on) as you would not have received and notifications when using the system, but yes they need a push notification for polling failure which i think could/should be done.

Thanks for the reply... I had read that by using the wifi module, this wasn't the case?
It's changed what ever communication device you use..
I would also recommend the Pyronix, I have fitted a few home control and they all work well.
It will not integrate with Nest and it's automation powers are very limited (basic on/off of relays).

Euro 46 has 10 zones out the box, 8 onboard and 2 on keypad.
-
Sorry forgot you can't use wifi with App46 yet (officially) you need lan or the gprs card.
-
Fantastic panels & probably the best looking keypad, I'm fitting another tomorrow morning.
if your budget can stretch go for the Euro App 46 and then add the wifi card to use your smartphone to control it (I take it your only fitting a bells only).
If your going to use there PIR detectors (wired) then switch off the blue led as they are to bright for domestic.

A Galaxy G2 is ten times easier to program than a Tex prem 24!
go with a Pyronix euro mini/46 or the Galaxy G2 12/20.
Accenta to a premier elite is a very big step.

Ahh yes the old A-Bus system in its many forms... I remember them, most had US keypads/back boxes. This was around the same time a Living control & philips pronto.
You can still buy new systems.

O and the Nest smoke alarms are very good.
I have also started playing with IFTTT

datadiffusion X10 ..... Really
Forget using your phone/ipad to control equipment it's just cumbersome and unnatural, use them to compliment physical switches/remotes is the way I have found works the best.
For controlling your everyday equipment (Tv, Sat, DVD, music) I use URC Total Control. I have used the product from launch (and aged some by doing so) but some years down the line the **** has been sorted out and it works as it should.
For multi room music Sonos or Denon Heos (Sonos preferred) with Spotify. It works and works well. It integrates well with most if not all other main systems and works well on its own.
For lighting Lutron or Rako. They both again work very well and integrate well with other systems as well as stand alone.
For heating (well basic heating) Nest 3rd gen room stat. Its like an apple iwatch on the wall. Integrates well and works.
Now for automation it depends on what you want to automate. Im moving house soon and currently working on spec for house. The brains of the house will be a Loxone server glued to all the above as well as my intruder.
I have to say some of the budget stuff works quite well. I have been testing/using lightwave from launch and it works around 90% of the time, looks ok and can be controlled from other systems easily. I would say the other brands work the same. But as said most are not 2-way, so its a send and hope affair.
I quite like the look of the Philips Hue lighting system and will probably put this in the kids rooms (colour changing) and integrate into system.

Sounders On Premier Elite For Fire Alarm Usage

As you can see Part B of building regs asks for grade B but from an out dated document. It should be BS 5839-6:2013
BS 5839-6:2013 supersedes BS 5839-6:2004, which is withdrawn.
