Unlock button will silence the beeping for 4 hours.
Alarm in memory is a memory event not a fault event.
The panel will only beep if there is still a fault, so a low battery or lid tamper for example.

Matt, you need to teach yourself not loose the phone.
You have ifoneitis. I think your making the a good start my separating work and personal.
Have you seen the pomodoro technique
I couldn't do without my phone, but I don't let it run my life.
Use it to assist your life not notify you to death.

Oh right, wasn't really looking for engineer manual, I assume these would of come with user manuals for the average joe?
TBH there wasn't much of a manual at all from new. Just a small A5 piece of card folded into thirds IIRC.
They are very menu driven, so not to hard to scroll about the user menu; from what I remember.

What was the one that was ALWAYS on before Going Live?*
Saturday Superstore, with Cheggers?
-
Nothing really. Onboard keypad or remote keypad that's it.What's the difference between Veritas 8 and Veritas R8, other than a keypad fitted on the 8?

The door contacts are by 'CQR SC570/WH/MULTI/G2 or G3', my bad, sorry.
They have 3 terminals in them, 2 for 12v + - and one spare, it also says to cut one of the links to make it a tamper so I've done that on all of them...not sure if I should have done that.
Hmm, you seem a bit out of your depth here...
Some quick pointers...
Door contacts don't have power.
CQR Multi has links that you cut for different values. I assume Scantronic are still using 4K7 alarm, 2K2 tamper.
The Optex Savers are good PIR's, although they do not have EOL resistors built in; so you will need the resistors supplied. Please refer to the manual on how to install the resistors in the sensors.
When you say 4 pair I assume you mean 8 core alarm cable?
You need to find out the total system current, I know Optex Saver's are 11mA max so that's a start.

As I see it, and please correct me if I am wrong, but the following analogy applies:
- When you go into a electronics store to buy a new DVD player, you don't have to be an expert in the latest technology, in fact which technology suits your personal needs the most (be it cost/image quality/sound etc etc), to be able to go home and connect the system up and for it to run without any problems
With respect, do you not see how you are making talented engineers/technicans and CCTV companies, sound like chimps that plug things together. You wonder why you have ruffled a few feathers.
There is a lot more to installing a CCTV system then buying consumer products (DVD players) that are designed to be foolproof on installation.
In a professional installation every system is bespoke, designed to get exactly what the customer needs. There are so many variables and choosing the wrong parts could lead to a seemingly working system. However, the evidence maybe not fit for purpose.
The community is very helpful, but they can't teach you there whole job overnight (this could be 3-5 years apprenticeship and xyz years experience).
How longs a piece of string, this is the important part.IP Camera - Whats reasonable without going over the top and ultra HD etc?
You need a good quality camera to get good images.
If you need identification we are talking megapixels, however, we don't know the viewing angle, field of view, distance of it's location.
They are sort of the same thing. DVR is normally used to describe analogue systems and NVR for IP.- DVR/NVR - Which is better?
Both normally have Ethernet connections.
Both store on to hard drive and you can control the recording rate to last xyz days.
The larger the HDD the more you can store before overwriting it.
Cat 5e and Cat 6 are standards of network cable.- Cabling - You mention cat5/6 - benefit of this rating?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethernet_cable
May not be required if using a PoE switch, see below- Camera psu - What is this for?
Not necessarily needed. Depends on the site.- hdmi / dvi monitor - Assume this is for live viewing. Im not actually too concerned with this feature, unless it is actually a requirement for any system to function correctly? As long as I can play back through PC at a later stage that is fine
To connect up an IP system you will need some IT networking skills.- Network switch - What is this for?
-
I can't say I know the South African standards. It's to a shocking standard.
It would be classed as a very poorly installed system over here.
-
I have read about an engineers code, which I don't believe I have, so I will call the installation company for it if it is necessary.
Pointless doing anything without the engineers code, which they won't give to you as this puts there other customers at risk.
The panel also while it's a bit untidy, looks full so no room for additions.
Your better talking to your current maintainer.
-
I must confess I think my skills are behind a keyboard
But that wasn't the question
imo I'm a better installer then you are computer geek...
Either was that....

I detest football. Everyone else glad to see the back of it
Back of it? The regular season will start up again soon...
I can't say I am a football fan, I may watch the World Cup and the big Premier League games.
Most of the time I'd prefer to watch any other sport or something else for that matter.

SQL?
Fitting alarms ...
-
I do that all the time its because you have in your mind what you are going to say when the phone is answered, You know who you are calling and you are checking that this is who you have. I never let plums that answer "this is Matthew " change me from asking if they are Matthew
Exactly, I explained this to someone the other day.
I always answer the phone with "4291"
I always answer with "Greater Manchester Police, Fraud Dept."

Yes, it's not exactly hard, is it.
-
PA button pressed and not reset?
I'd guess so.
-
This is a pre-2000 version.
I guess it's in the misc sections.
The quickest way is to put the strobe wire in with the bell trigger IMO.
-
Flashing continuously or for a few seconds after arming?
-
The detection is one-way.
-
Press the unlock button and it will stop beeping for 4 hours.
Also if you can home arm the system at night this will also stop the beeping.
-
Yes, yes with the right kitHave you fitted any of these before, can I like them into any alarm panel?
Yesok so its a Visonic Tower 20-AM.
YesMCR-308+RL Receiver
Sounds like your making a mountain out of a mole hill.
I agree with Norm what's wrong with the Powermax? Assuming it's ok for the risk of the property? (only one way detection)
If I wanted something better I'd rip it all out and use Texecom and Rick O' Shea.
-
System will need a new battery.
Strobe will flash if there is a tamper fault. Wouldn't rule out a faulty sounder from your post.
Need to check if the output of the panel is at fault or the box.
-
They would have to leave sufficient time to allow the traffic to adjust it's speed.
You can't expect to read a sign you have already passed.
-
Sounds like a Powermax with external Octa-Quads
I would think the reason behind them not picking up is they sleep for a while after each activation.
