  1. I have always known it but sometimes idiots are hard to spot, and even though you believe that everyone should have a chance, But dont just take my word for it ask any employer here, we have all employed an idiot or two, the last idiot I employed has gone on to work for four more employers, and he has been with the last one for nearly a year now, they must know he's an idiot by now it only a matter of time
  2. Yes your right Gaz, but sometimes you employ an idiot that lies his way through the interview, and it takes a while to find out he's an idiot because one you dont want to believe that your that stupid to take on an idiot, two he is quite good at covering his tracks he may be an idiot but that doesnt mean he is stupid, if he was an idiot and stupid you would have spotted that straight away in the interview, and lastly if you are a nice boss you will give him the benefit of doubt, and a chance to prove you wrong. But I will never employ someone with those traits again which doesnt mean I wont employ another idiot but the idiot wont be as much of an idiot
  3. Turnover is nothing we could all be busy fools you need to make profit not turnover I assumed it was the one he quoted
  4. I said Most Gaz, you are probably the exception, and everytime I have lost an engineer I have got a better replacement ....though in some cases that wasnt hard
  5. Are you sure that the readers are not multi format readers? I think you will find they can read Mifare
  6. Everyone is replaceable and usually by someone better, because the boss learns from his mistakes and knows what to look for, a good business is ever evolving. That said I have yet to find the perfect employee, most are successfully running there own businesses
  7. I was only saying to one of my engineers just the other day, you boys think its easy for me sitting in a nice warm office, drinking tea made by fair maidens, you forget everytime you have a bad day I also have a bad day, the problem is theres several of you,and sometimes several of you have a bad day on the same day and that means I have a bad day several times the size of your bad day. Then theres the customers, they do their level best to get out of paying, "but the engineer said its the service guys fault" or " I pay £79.00 per year so call-outs should be free" Then theres the admin staff "I didnt send an invoice because the engineer didnt sign the paperwork" or " I thought I would order an extra one of those for stock because we didnt have any" never mind the fact that we have only used one of those in the last twenty years and its likely to be twenty years til we need another then. Yeah running your own company is a barrel of laughs most days. Still at least I have plenty of £50.00 notes to light my cigars with
  8. My advise would be start off as a subbie this way you will have work while you are doing your own thing, as a one man band you will never earn enough to pay your way otherwise
  9. You sound like the sort of customer they should be wanting to keep, if you were one of mine I would try my best to luck after you fairly , hopefully they will see it that way too. Good luck
  10. I may be missing something here but why cant you just wire the virgin socket to the bt extensions? Surely theyre not a million miles away?
  11. You could try down powering and powering up mains first then battery, when was it last serviced?
  12. Not really, a multimeter wont tell you the full story as ideally it should be tested under load. Another easy way to tell if its beyond repair is to look on the rear of the PCB (You have to remove it from the case ) there is a large resistor, if that is scorched its most likely too late to change the battery, if its burnt or crumbles in your hand its way too late. Be careful there is mains electricity in the panel
  13. Could be a waste of money if the battery has been out for a long time the charging circuit is very likely to be no good, as said earlier at least check that there is power coming from the battery terminals before wasting your money on a new battery.
  14. No I am very content with my life, I just wish the rest of the world was less fkd up
  15. SDI came along and then someone found a way to improve it they called it CVI Thats the problem with technology just a soon as you buy a 3D 60inch top of the range Samsung TV they will bring out a 4K version you buy that then they bring out the curved screen version, and so on.
  16. Thats because you;re a busy fool Imran
  17. That's the north south divide, the dancing girls are twice the price down here Liam......and half the size
  18. £100 extra for a Saturday is cheap, How much do you think an alarm engineer earns?, they really dont need to work weekends so when you want them to you have to motivate them properly. My chaps would want far more than £100 extra to work on a Saturday they are far to busy watching dancing girls and lighting cigars with tenners at weekends
  19. I could not forget, I take great detours just to make sure I dont bump into him
  20. LOL! I thought it was quite clear, but I was very drunk yesterday
