Yes all Std spec, speak to Jim Wilson the project engineer from Glasgow.
looked a decent setup
-
iPads with a fancy mount wifi'd to the cctv. Std spec for the upgrades.

i saw something the other day when i was working in a bank was an ipad type tablet on a bracket it appeared just to be for viewing the counter for customers couldnt seen any recording equipment

See what I mean, I think I stick what i really know "alarms" ha

will do..crack on

Gaz this is in the diy section
hes an engineer like every kin diyer that comes on and 99% of them dont listen as they know better..whats the point man alarms are easy so why ask
-
I want to install myself. I like the challenge
and it certainly is by the sounds of it,im surprised an engineer (sic) cant fathom basic circuits
-
just get adt in job done
-
I think the best advice is to get a bt/virgin socket fitted so the op can continue with his service provider.
i think its the normal answer most would give
-
I have nothing against ADT, however, a local would just quote a GSM or Wifi solution for a lot less than £800, now ADT may also be a lot less than £800 but engineer should have called the office and quoted the correct price. At the end of the day its about giving the customer the right information so they can make the right decision
the way i read it is the adt engineer didnt try to get him to upgrade and gave the cost reason as to much to be viable and probably told the sub to get a socket fitted next to the panel, but then you have 2 members encouraging the sub to ditch adt for no reason than they are not a local, now thats what i call impartial advice

dd is doing the twitter thing cos im too old and it means nowt to me

I would never advocate an enduser messing with a contracted system
so you say but is that you or twitter boy it's hard to tell these days
-
As they broke it I do think you should go back to them with ur comments. I have never used a 9100 so dont know
sorry jimmy but that's *****,your condoning end users messing around with systems on contract and blaming the maintainer in favour of the user,im sure they will sign up to your shiney badge utopia theory and take over from the people you say you try to protect..just saying like and piss boiling to boot

Thanks for all the great input. The tamper switch had actually been broken by the Service Company, & they had tried to fix it with tin foil & bluetack!
Luckily as the device was left in Programming Mode, I could reset the Engineer's code, & change the Tamper Smitch.
Then fixed the PIR (which had been disconnected by the Service Company), & fixed 2 Zones that we had to omit for the last 5 years (these were simple problems).
All is good now )
I have one further question that I can't fathom. The Entry/Exit door has a lock with a shunt. When the alarm is in Day mode, the lock USED to give a 2 tone (high, low) indication when it was locked. However, now it gives the high/low indication when the door is UN-Locked, & nothing when the door is locked.
I recall this happened once before, but didn't see what the Service company did to change this back to the 2 tones when locking.
Looking at the programming guide I have "9100/9105 Installation & User Guide", I can't work out what I need to do to reverse the behaviour.
Any tips appreciated, & once again, THANKS FOR THE FANTASTIC SUPPORT.
Martin

130 hrs! Farking hell, something to get you're teeth into then??
it wasn't meant to be but that's how it turned out,4 panel networked gents vigi around 1k devices none with any labels and no paperwork it was a case of testing every device and putting labels in thru the front door ,touch wood it's been fine and gets me plenty of overtime on ri's as customer only lets testing on a weekend

How do you go about marking heads for the split servicing, coloured dots or some other way?
to be honest I havnt seen the coloured dots thing for a while we do for example (as people have different ways )on a 4 zone system would be wrote down as full test zones 1 and 3 random zones 2 and 4 next vist full test zones 2 and 4 random zones 1 and 3 and sounders and relays marked as tested or not tested if customer declines

It seems a good proportion of these take overs have "50%" test in the log book,
see that all the time,it's the knowledge is power thing probably keeps all the paperwork in his van too, seen that a few times also

Just getting a feel of what other co's don't on an initial take over
On taking over an existing system we will give 100% test, mark detectors for future 6 monthly/quarterly tests (if not already) and full zone list/plan Any deviations noted and passed to the customer.
It seems a good proportion of these take overs have "50%" test in the log book, but as sensors ain't marked who's to know what's been tested?! And also have no existing zone plans or device lists...
are we being too thorough if there's such a thing?! Just seems lots of fire I see are maybe just functionally tested by a spark and that's that??
do 100% on takeovers tho depends on size of job ,we have a multiday inspection code so it can take say 12 hrs over 3 days to do the takeover, tho done one about 2 yrs ago that took 130 man hours over 5 weeks

the isolators are in the device not the base...

depending on the type of farm it is beams might not be suitable, for contacts I'd use roller shutter contacts glanded either into a conduit box or small ip rated jb,but I'd also look at installing all cables in heavy duty plastic conduit due to mice rats etc which will eat any exposed cable more so in a farm environment where they are plenty
