& you can fully disable via jumpers...

alarms have self activating bells,
when the power is removed from the unit, it sounds (powered by its own battery)
in most case if you don't want it to sound you get the ladder out & disconnect the battery...

Unless I'm mistaken....
You can either have a lan card
A wireless card
or card which sends Texts
& only 1 fitted to the system ? (inside the metal case)
