Some 'engineers/technicians/electricians' are multi disciplined to accommodate individual customer requirements, this isn't necessarily a flaw in good practice, More like making good use of excellent employees.
-
Oh dear.........I really need to get out more tbh...
-
Did my apprenticeship around that area, refrigeration not the sh!t I do now!, Did a few jobs at the Black Country Museum, brilliant place.
-
It only has misc options 1 and 2, And there isn't an option for strobe on full set, Which seems worrying!, As SWB, that'll settle its ash.
-
It receives an input then does what you want and gives an output.
-
You could use a multifunction relay, the sort with on off delay etc etc, to create a time window.
-
Well yes!...cat5 is for cat5 applications, 8 core alarm cable is for 8 core alarm cable applications, Why else would there be different cable types?.
-
Thats just the point by your very admission, you've never tried it, some people do, and they look to the likes of our forums to give them help as best we can, whats the point of a public help forum if we don't offer help to the public?.
-
Matthew, In my opinion if you're giving answers like that then you should really just look on trade, it's what you obviously do best, no dis meant though, just an observation.

Top, middle or bottom, Tis a worry tbh.

Speaker works on millivolts, and connects to speaker terminals, sound bomb and sounders work on 12 volts and connect to 12 volts, mix the two and it tends to hurt the main panel unfortunately.

One assumed, from his OP, that he had an R8+ not an R8, as he stated he'd taken +ve and -ve from the communicator interface.
-
Connect output three (intruder) on the communicator to input three(usually used for intruder) on the dialler.

No, his exact words on our yearly office based assessment to me, our QS, and my coleague, 'How often should your meters be calibrated', my mate said yearly, he said no, etc until I said no requirement, that's when he gave the speal as I mentioned above, as my previous though, and hearing others comments, I do it every year to be sure-does beg the question though, do even the assessors really know their stuff?, or is it just pay us the money or you won't be in our club?.
-
And don't forget your tester must be calibrated every year.
Not according to my NICEIC assessor a couple of months ago, he said as long as it was tested regularly against a known socket etc, and readings didn't obviously fluctuate, then that was a good enough check to say the calibration was still valid-though I'm a bit wary of the ramifications if somat occured etc, I'll still get it done yearly to save any problems tbh.

Unfortunately I think we all missed the boat
I'll swim....

As James, had mis-fired staples, pulled them out, metered the cable, very, very rare to actually cut a core.
-
2.5mm T+E, no fecking chance of damaging the 8core, seriously though surely we use staplers/clips, we all run the risk of damaging a cable!-put one 8 core in 16x25 trunking just to be on the safe side?.
-
I do my certs using the NICEIC online facility, uses drop down boxes to select everything, and it's only £1 a pop, informs building control etc, and sends cert directly to client via email if you want.
-
Get one that does all the required tests as per BS7671 for circuits you have added/modified.
Some testers have additional features such as 'auto rcd' and 'ramp' etc, but if it's for just basic use then a basic 17th edition multifunction or equivalent would suffice.
-
Well that's one way of ensuring it isn't unplugged accidentally, Little transformer backed up by a 32A fuse, nice.
-
Why screened to rkp?.
-
Problem is, as on my parents estate, the PIR cables can be in silly places, all unlabeled, and the cable is el cheapo nasty nasty aluminium tat.
Unless you've got a true security bod advising them, and why would they really, it can be just as frustrating in my experience.
QFA.

'New builds', if the builders are worth there salt, they should be allowing for alarms, if they are not then the architect is imho at fault-not rocket science is it, allow for sky, BT, data network etc etc for your multi engineered home-ahhhhh- what about an alarm to protect all this high tech stuff.........ooops...to late.
I'd rather do mini trunking/blaze on top of skirting, it can be easily 'caulked' and blend in once painted, you'd have to look closely to spot the 'addition', protected, easily accessed in the future if required for further cables etc, no realistic chance of damage without obvious signs of such.
but to say running a cable under a carpet is cowboy give the op the wrong impression.
Wasn't me, just said there are other ways.
One of my favourite words
Lol.
