Will This Camera Work Well With An Ir Lamp?

Featured Replies

Sorry to keep bringing IR lamp subjects up.

I've got here the spec for a Panasonic WV-BP332EE mono camera.

I want to use it with the 715nm IR lamp I've just baught.

I'm planning on using it with a Panasonic WV-LZA61/2 lens, can anyone tell from the specs below weather this will give me a high quality night time coverage?

Also, how do I keep focus at night? my current camera blurrs when its dark, if I focus it at night it's then out of focus in the moring, it has an A/I lense on it.

Specification:

The 1/3" CCD digital signal processing B/W WV-BP332 series cameras deliver outstanding high-quality pictures as well as versatile digital functions and system integration capability. The camera incorporates a 1/3" interline transfer type CCD and achieves high sensitivity of 0.008 fc at F1.4, outstanding 570-line horizontal resolution and signal-to-noise ratio of 50 dB.

Features:

* 570 lines of horizontal resolution

* Vertical digital 2H enhancement

* Knee circuit

* Outstanding 50 dB of signal-to-noise ratio

* A specially developed lens mount configuration accepts both C and CS mount lenses

I've never used that particular equipment, but the specs look good.

With the IR only being 715nm, I'd think you'd get a pretty good picture from it.

If you don't know......ask.

Thanks brian,

Will I be able to maintain a crisp picture at night with that camera and lense combo?

The only person that can answer that would be someone who's seen the kit in action.

Panasonic are good quality overall though, so IMHO I would think so yes.

You need to back focus the camera and lens, using a filter that simulates night time, buy a welders lens from machine mart for about

Thanks Ian,

This camera is on my own house so focusing at night isn't a problem, can you point me to a site where I can learn about back focusing?

Its a bit of a long process to just type up let alone learn but this should help. Its the best i can come up with so far.

Hi alexg,

I don't know if this will help you at all:- http://www.doktorjon.co.uk/Technical-lenses/lenstech11.html

Incidentally, there is a commercial sheet plastic that works very efficiently as an Infra Red pass filter. From memory, it can transmit light frequencies from about 700 > 1200+ nM, and it doesn't cost a lot.

Come to think of it, I've got a big sheet of it lying around here somewhere; now where did I put it .....?
