Multiple Mics

Featured Replies

Im fitting 4 small cctv cameras to a pc with dvr card that has one input for sound.

The cctv cameras have a built in mic, is it possible to connect all four mics together in parallel to the pc ?

Thanks

you could connect them through an audio mixer

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

An analogue audio feed, just like a CCD video feed is a "baseband" data transmition, meaning that there can be no other concurrent services on that line as that one service consumes all the available spectrum.

As someone else has said, you'd need some kind of "multiplexing device" or other to allow that to happen. I'm sure such devices exist.

likely however, the capture card will FORCE you to bind the one audio signal to a video signal. This could present logistical quandries when you need to find a piece of audio belonging to camera 4, when the sound has been encoded as part of camera 1 for example...

my advice: more trouble than its worth!! :)

thanks for that, ive got at 2 audio channels to connect to which is better than none i suppose.

I think audio is a massive plus on a cctv system though.
