VERITAS 8

Featured Replies

Hi,

A friend of mine has bought a house and it has a Veritas 8 alarm installed.

He has no codes etc (typical)

I fitted my own R8 system so, toddled off to have a look with my manuals.

What I found was strange to me.

I can set and unset his system with 4321, I can also access chimes by using this code.

But when I tried to cange his code by pressing 4321 PROG, the panel just returns its error sound.

I cannot access engineer mode, so it has obviously been changed.

I have told him that he will probalby have to buy a new panel as you cannot reset to default, but thought I'd ask this question to the experts before he does.

As the system works fine and is set up well.

I just cannot understand why I cannot enter user menus ??

Any Ideas

Mick

its an old veritas(pre 2000)

to change code

Enter existing code

press 00

press 01

enter new code

press PROG

press RESET

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

Think you may be right there...

The PCB is screened 1994

Will give it a go next time I see him thanx.

Don't suppose a factory reset is any easier on an old panel..??

So I could update his part set etc

All the commands are different, so unless you have an old installation manual you still wont be able to do anything with it.

MIck , there is a pre-1999 user guide in the gallery , under control panels.

Thankyou FASTCAR

Just printed it off.

What a helpful bunch of peeps you all are.

Now to talk the tight git into shelling out a measly £35 for an upgraded version

Thanks again

Mick
