I notice everything like that, intruder alarm kit, PBX's and phones, brands of electrical accessories. Whenever I walk in a shop I start looking around for these things!

I'm guilty too - but the worst is when you are on holiday and you look out for the equipment you use. (Oh look, they use FX-50s here, but look at the c***py bell boxes ont he wall).
