Hello all,

I am looking for some advice.

I want to install a hard wired basic-ish system myself and would like to know what system you would suggest for someone with a reasonable amount of electrical knowledge and skill.

Here is my wish list for the system

Hard wired

Easy to install

8 programmable zones with potential for expansion

Operable from the main panel and remote keypad

External sounder with strobe and comfort LED's

Potential or speech dialer ? ok i could live without this one

Supplied with ALL fitting, operating instructions etc

Easy to program

You may ask why do i want to install it myself ?

Apart from the obvious, i want to understand and maintain the system i am going to live with myself.

All advice very gratefully recieved

Sorry forgot to mention.

I have inherited a dead system so i want to make use of the wires already in place.

All the wiring is ok i checked that out, the original box and pir's are gone.

well, that wasn't correct answer...

You want hardwired because it is reliable unlike wireless.

If you post your location, im sure a member on here would be willing to give practical advice possibly in person

Glad to see your going hard wired at least.

Sad to see with 50+ reads no one pointing you at easily installed boards.

Go for an ADE Optima G3, it will cover most of your needs and is

very easy to fit

You can search the web for suppliers, like mothercare and boots for babies

Sorry, but the G3 is has no capacity for expansion, as I know to my cost! So don't get one of those

Apart from that I found it to be an OK DIY panel, but with what I know now from this forum I wouldn't have installed it because of this limitation.
