i rarely add these modulators to Cctv so won't get much use out of dvb meter but for that money I may invest cus this thing is far from easy. All others I've used easy.the Edison version looks easier.

I wouldn't normally but will for a tsier. That isnt a proper combiner its a tv/sat diplexer. Its filtering out the modulated signal as it has bandpass filters on each side and the sat input filters out tv frequencies. You need something for tv frequencies on both inputs.

Yep passive combiners can be either combiners or splitters, they work in either direction.
