September 20, 200421 yr comment_23973 hello to evryone i am new to this forum and i am a bit of a novice so please excuse my ignorance, all advice will be very much appreciated. i was asked to look at a securit 700l alarm system which has the following fault when the user puts there code into the remote keypad there is no audible alert and the alarm does not set. i checked the panel supply to the panel which is o.k. there is about 14 volts supply to the battery. all 12v outputs to pir's etc are o.k. tamper circuit is o.k. there are no tamper alarms activated. while i was there the alarm did set once but not every time. when i removed the cover to the control panel no tamper alert was activated. when i removed the cover to the remote keypad a tamper alert did occur but you could cancel it by just holding in the tamper switch with your finger, shouldnt you have to enter the user code to reset the tamper? when you pressed or twisted the remote keypad all different l.e.d.'s would light up making me think there was a bad connection, i remade all connections but the problem still occured. i think the keypad is faulty but i cannot understand why no tampers went of when i removed the main control panel cover. the sticker on the p.c.b. dates the system at 1994 and is a c001-092 issue 2 system. i think it needs a new battery as this is more than three years old and keypad. however as i said im no expert and would appreciate some advice from someone who is thanks knighty Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/3637-securit-700l/ Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 September 20, 200421 yr comment_23974 The panel has locked up, probably due to a voltage surge or dying battery. A Simple reset by removing all power inc backup battery, and then restoring power & battery will cause the panel to spring to life. Get ready with the customers code and enter it to shut up the system. Fit a new battery, Replace the panel lid, and reset the system in the normal user way. ........................................................ September 21, 200421 yr comment_24018 Sounds like dry joints on the keypad causing the flashing LED's I'd be tempted to replace the keypad or just touch up the solder joints if your reasonably proficient with a soldering iron. Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer. I do agree though, downpower, replace battery, repower and enter customer code to silence. They tend to be a cracking panel really, I can't remember seeing a faulty one. And that's in years and years !!!!!!!!
