February 4, 201412 yr comment_366643 Economies of scale I guess? aye could be when i bought my black cable that was the only one that was dearer than the others, at the time i assumed the stuff they use to color it black cost more, but now the orange is the same price Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/36029-what-is-everyone-installing-cable-wise/page/3/#findComment-366643 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 May 6, 201412 yr comment_380349 I had a call from an installer I know who had used CAT5 with baluns and he had signal problems with interference... I suggested using RG59 shotgun but do it one at a time and test each one in turn. After running cables into 2 cams he found the remaining 2 were fine. I have been using RG59 shotgun exclusively as I have always been a believer in one purpose made cable per camera. Also I have installed HD-SDI which gives 1080p digital signal over RG59. Just out of interest does anyone use CAT6 or is that above and beyond anything that would ever be required? May 7, 201412 yr comment_380396 I don't routinely use CAT6, because what exactly are you future proofing for? A 20 megapixel IP camera running at 100fps?
