Texecom Second Bell ?

1. No, a user code will stop it for most things, but bell or wiring issue can only be silenced at the bell

2. Again an engineer code will not silence anything. A tamp will cause an internal alarm, only external when armed

3. Why would you want that?

4. An open, close normally means disarmed, armed etc but i don't know your panel

Thanks - perfect answers to my questions 1 to 3

Now I know answer to 2 I do not need 3. My concern was if tamp caused external alarm if not armed......in case it was like my old alrm 24 hour tamper which went off if tamper whether alarm armed or not..but as my old alarm did not have battery in bell then I could kill it by turning alarm off.  I was concerned in case this new alarm with battery in bell did sound if alarm not armed but I got a aux fault say due to bell battery or something.   Anyhow not wanting to confuse - you answered Q2 perfectly and so my Q3 is no longer applicable.

Q4 Picture shows what I refer to. Its a 24-W model with LCDP keypad

Thanks again for any further replies.

  • 6 months later...

Hi - System has been working perfectly since installed last October/November.

But now 2nd bell box is indicating a fault (using cat 3 fault contacts simply to let me know if a box has any fault. Not used to sound alarm.)

I'm guessing if its the battery then pulling power feed to bells will cause it to sound if battery is ok...though not sure as it may run a while (how long to test?) before battery dies early? I assume if it does not die (how long to wait?) then the fault is something else and bell box needs replacing under warranty.

Or maybe - just change bell box under warranty whether its battery or otherwise cos its failed after 6 months?

So to my question - if I log on as Engineer, open CP, fit jumper to bypass CP anti tamper, log out as Engineer then pull +12V feed to bells - I expect they sound.

Question is

If I first reconnect +12V feed to bells then log on as Engineer does this stop bells sounding?

If not - then after reconnecting +12V feed do I have to wait until bell time out (15 mins i think?) and this auto resets the CP and turns bells off?

I suspect I can alter bell run time to test this out in case its the latter.

I'll try this at the week end but any comments appreciated.

Kind Regards.
