    Can the Ipad do everything Ipod can do (and more) and do it well?

I was considering buying an Ipod but now I'm thinking about an Ipad instead. The main things I want to do are read e-books, browse the internet and listen to music downloads and live FM. I also want to be able to connect it to a speaker dock like you can the Ipod or at least connect it to speakers for outside listening. If it can't do all these things and do them well I'll save myself some cash and just get an Ipod and a speaker dock. Please give me your thoughts especially about the music capabilities.

Surely if you were deciding between an Ip-pad or Ip-pod.

The question is do I want it to fit in my pocket? Decision made?
