Wireless Alarm Systems

Featured Replies

I accept that en reg has improved wireless missing issues. But any 1 way system just sends a burst of signals and assumes one of them will get through. 2 way wireless means the devices will continue to transmit until the signal is received

i know, but tbh how is it much better?

whiile not using real times for window, but lets say if the panels report window is an hour, panel don't receive inside that window, it it's not going to set. Should the detector be stolen the befor arming, and just after it has reported (which would be bleeding hard to do deliberately under EN timings), it will report mising detector i think as a full alarm.

if detector is ripped off when set say by arm through open window = alarm when moved.

Battery low is sent to panel well before detector ceases, and if it did by chance expire the above apart from through window applies.

i'm just betting you won't agre though  .

edit to add - 2 way still only = G2

Thanks for the replies given me something to look into, is the texecoms 3-5yr battery life relistic ?

The battery life is realistic, part of the 2 way communication protocol means that the devices are only awake when they need to be, we do not send any redundant signals. The Ricochet Technology was 2 years in the making and battery life was for us a top consideration.

Hope this helps.

I`d always take the battery life with a pinch of salt personally and drop a year off them. Even with "sleep" modes in somewhere busy they would drain more.

i would as oxo say also not put my mortgage on the max life. That will be under 'optimum' conditions like mobile phone standby times. I dont get the 300 odd hours i should out of my phone. But if i lived under a base station and never turned it on, had the backilght off etc i might have a chance.

We change batts at 2 yrs but i reakon we could push that to 3 yrs... but the cost of the odd one running out before hand would outweigh the cost savings of pushing it to 3 yrs. We dont use texecom currently mind.

oh and arf.

your right i dont agree. Burst 1 way transmission should be grade 1 IMO. One of the reasons we hated radio in the past. Honeywell 2 way is excellent, texecom seems better in theory. Wireless is the future definetly, but 1 way wireless certainly isnt.

but it is cheaper...... lol

I have done the same thing with the old Scantronic kit a few years ago.....I've recently started using the Risco-Agility kit ...seems fine..

2 way (g2)

easy to program...using laptop/pc/keypad

learning on field devices is a peice of cake

The on-board digi runs on (contact ID)format so when setting up an ARC account ask them to remove the pins so that the format works correctly and make sure you program the zone attributes before you program the ARC side of things as you may get wrong signals......i.e. if you progran ARC first then a zone from intruder to fire the panel will only send intruder not fire.....

Risco has a man called Chris ...he's red hot tech guy and he'll even remote fault find if you can't do it...

regards

Malc

One more thing .......always use a door contact on the exit door as PIRs go to sleep and will not generate entry timer if within 150 seconds of setting

Sorry but who uses a PIR as a FE zone?

Not seen that for years and even then it was some cheapo poopy half bodged effort!

You need to detect. The entry door opening so if a our can do that (it can't usually) then it complies

Driving and typing?

As an afterthought if your using wireless there is no reason not to use a contact!

Risco do 2 way wireless btw ;)

You would need to explain how 1 way would fail, it sends a regular signal, panel don't get it within the time frame, then either won't arm or will signal a fault if armed. Lo batt is also sent .

But I'd agree 2 way better but highr battery use, Risco 2w has 2 batts.
