Insurance Cover

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I see there have been discussions in the past regarding the 'insurance game', how it works, what cover is required & whether efficacy cover is neccessary.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask. I own an independant brokerage & specialise in the fire & security industries.

Hi Dale

Welcome to our little corner of the www.

Glad to have you with us & greatful for your offer to help with any Q's of insurance and no doubt the topic of efficacy will come up soon enough.

I'm due my renewal in May so no doubt we'll speak again soon.

cheers

Chris!

I assume that you are not familiar with the security industry?

Hi,

Yes, very familar thanks - my comments were neutral as some feel very strongly that efficacy cover is a waste of money. Whilst it's often recommended, some still choose not to include it.

thought it was mandatory?

thought it was mandatory?

only if your regulated by an inspectorate.

un regulated can be completely uninsured if the mood takes them

As far as I am aware you don't have to have either public liability or efficacy although employers liablity is mandatory if you employ people.

Has anybody ever claimed off an efficacy policy?

I used to have it because my inspectorate insisted on it but I never really understood what it was for and how it differed from public liability.

YES, you can risk your home and everything you've ever worked for if you so wish. Employers is mandatory AFAIK.

efficacy is failure of your services to perform (extinguishr you filled does not work, alarm does not activate etc)

public liability only covers who/what you hurt

product liability only covers a faulty product NOT your inproper installation or application of that product.

Dale is the man to explain it in full but the above is my (rightly or wrongly) understanding of it.

hope it helps

Well loss due to product failure or bad advice (esp as now we're the ones doing the risk assessments) whereas public, like when ppl trip over your toolbox & break a leg during a service visit.

Sure sandham can advise better..........

Ahh.
