naziern
Hi there, Only just signed uo to this excellent resource. I am in the middle of upgrading my Verita 8C to a Premier 24 with 2 remote keypads and a speech dialler. I have replaced the existing cable with 8 core cable as the old wiring was a bit dodgy (wired using phone cable!) I got hold hold of a remote microhpne unit that hooks upto the dialler and need some advice on the best place to site it. I am considering fitting it in the hallway opposite the remote keypad or would it be better higher up towards the ceiling? The Speech and Text dialler will be installed in the living room. I plan to fit another RMU on the first floor, again the plan is to install it next to the upstairs remote keypad. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Naz Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/25171-installing-texecom-speech-dialler-and-rmu/ Share on other sites
kensplace
I would be tempted to stick the microphone near whatever the scumbags are likely to target the most. If they are going to be 'talking' then I would guess they are more likely to be talking about how to rip a plasma screen of the wall, or telling their mate to grab that dvd player / laptop etc. Probably wont bother chatting in the lobby unless there is a reason for them to. naziern
Hadn't thought of that! I suppose the only reason for siting next to the keypad was to enable two way conversation, but like you say a scumbag is hardly likely to take time out in a little conversation! Many thanks for all the suggestions, leaves me in a little bit of a predicament as I was not intending to fit one in every room ( Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/25171-installing-texecom-speech-dialler-and-rmu/#findComment-213707 Share on other sites

galaxyclass
Got to agree that there is not much point of a 2 way conversation with a burglar. If anything they will do more damage whilst laughing and just annoy you even more. As arfur says above this has its uses but not really any good for this.
