Accenta 8 Goes Off When We're In The House

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm having a problem with my Accenta 8. We went away for a couple of weeks and put the alarm on, came home and turned it off. Ever since then it keeps going off when we're home - once or twice a day. The keypad makes the warbling noise and the alarm box flashes blue and red, but doesn't make a noise. I can enter the code and the noise stops, but the reset button won't work. It then goes off an hour or so later and I can use the reset button.

Has anyone any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it?

Many thanks

The battery was replaced approx 3 years ago and it's had various fuses over the years, but hasn't been serviced, just bits replaced when necessary.

I just wasn't sure if it was a faulty sensor, a fuse or a battery that we should be looking at first.

Could be many things as you know but battery is always a popular & cheap starting point.

Don't get the cheapest though in my opinion get a brand name one like Yuasa.

sounds like you have intermittent tamper fault.

What lights are on before you press reset?

The first time it goes off and we key in the code, only the power and day lights are on (that's when you can't press reset), the second time it goes off, the tamper light comes on when you enter the code and then the reset button works.

Sounds to me like a cable fault and/or a problem with your outside alarm box ( possibly corrosion)

Best get someone in qualified to check it out.
