For the last couple of days when I try to set my alarm on the keypad, zones 3 and 4 light up and the alarm doesn't set. I have checked the zones out and they seem to be ok (pir detectors). Is this trying to tell me that the battery back up is dead or something like that?

Have you had any work done in your house?

When did you last change the battery?

If it wont set on zones 3 and 4 and they're the only PIR's in the house then it sounds like the 12v dc output fuse has popped.

For that to happen, the wires carrying the 12v dc will have had a short (probably still have) on them which is why Colin asks about having had work done recently, cable damage being the most likely cause.

You have 2 choices, either check the fuse yourself if you have a multimeter and only if you feel competent enough to be able to do this.

Or call out an engineer to check the system out for you.

What area/region are you in as there engineers from all over the country who frequent this site and maybe able to help you out with a visit for a reasonable charge.

Do the walk test lights come on when you walk around the room, if not as has already been stated it sounds like the aux fuse has blown

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

Thanks for the advice, I use the same type battery on lift alarm power supply units so I took one home and it seems to have done the trick. cheers. :D
