Keystone Wireless Setup! Help!

Featured Replies

I have a keystone k600 wireless receiver which I am trying to wire upto my exsting alarm ( Citadel XR1) so I can have a wireless set/unset capability.

I have setup the Alarm zone as a Keyswitch (?) and put the -ve output from the reciever to it. (on the left hand terminal)

When i press the transmitter button the alarm starts to set, but when i take me finger of the button, the alarm stops i.e. the single from the transmitter stops therfore the alarm stops setting becuase the circuit is closed (or open ??) but you see what I mean?

How can I get this to keep the circuit open i.e. i want to press on, then press off

Is this possible.

This is my first alarm install, and im not to up on electrics in general, so please help!!!

possibly set the output as latching, dont know the kit but thats what i would check 1st

I don't know that alarm, but mine has a "push to set" zone definition which would seem more appropriate than a keyswitch - does yours have that? It's normally used where there's an external button (like a doorbell) that you press after leaving the property to confirm exit and set the alarm.

BUT I think you have to initiate the set first via the panel.

If you want full remote control you'll probably need relays. And no doubt one of the pro's will explain why it's a bad idea anyway.

pulsed? or biased? may help can you tell the panel which type of input to look for?

same as camerabloke i dont really know that piece of kit but most of the theory is the same

No you cant tell it what type of single on the control panel, and as you say the panel needs to be set before the push to set is activated.

So it looks like i need a relay, then ??

If so can someone give me a maplin or rs product code or link to which one i need, like i said, i dont have much idea with electronics.

FYI i had a similar problem with my original keystone receiver, it had one wire per channel. Keystone do an 'RX' version which has the relay outputs, two wires per channel. I got mine from Alert Electrical, they have a website.

However, the rx version seems to work in the 'normally open' way which is no good for me at the moment as I need a normally closed for my zone.

Think its a problem with transistorised outputs feeding back, had a similar problem last year, all solved with a handy little relay
