Whats a Manual????

A manual can consist of either a single sheet of paper or multiple possibly double sided sheets of paper with words written on them that describe how to work / fix say an alarm. In this case the manual is in electronic form and can refered to at any time your near you computer.. :P

Close - that's actually done over a network/crossover cable. We use HT/serial comms to do setup that can't be done on the on screen display - for example - setting the IP address when there's no software on the unit, or no OSD (e.g.- DV-IPs which have no main monitor output).

hyper terminal is brill

you can do allsorts with it i use it all the time but then i like to mess with things like that for those who have use the dedicated micros ds2's and ds2a's you can put the units into engineering mode from hyper termianal and upload/download new softwear to the units change passwords even dms engineering codes.....brill for messing around with

Provided you set the baud rate up you can use it to view printer outputs and store them on your lappy to compare should you need to.

Pretty versatile program.

need a 'null modem' lead for that

We use a standard gardtec printer lead with a gender changer. Would like some less hastle software though
