Optima Xm Power Outage

Featured Replies

I had a new RCD Board fitted just over a year ago but have never had a total power outage at my Home until recently. The Optima XM has been installed for 13 years with negligible problems and a Power Outage never caused the Alarm to activate.

The alarm now activates if the power is switched off.Could this be due to the fitting of the new RCD Board or is it likely the BackUp Battery is at the end of its life.

Should I call the electrician back who fitted the RCD Board or an Intruder Alarm Expert.

Thanks in anticipation of any help.

Peter

Most definately the alarm system is at fault, has it ever been serviced? 13 years is a pretty long time without having it maintained.

Get an alarm company in to service your alarm.

Your battery has failed.

As a minimum.

As Rich said, you need the services of an engineer. Your panel may well be completely cooked from trying to charge a knackered battery for the last 10 years.

Thank you Rich and Adi.No it has never been serviced since it was installed so it has performed very well.I will follow your advice tout suite.
