  1. As a title, what are the technologies of alarm sensors that can detect movement through walls? From what I know are only those who use microwave technology up to 10 Ghz. Any indication in this regard is welcome.
  2. Hey guys, I was wonderign what brand of sensors (PIR, combination, glass break etc.) do You use and prefer? You can choose more than one so you can mark all of the brands you like. Share your opinion If you have other brand you prefer, or want to mention specific type you are especally fond of after the voting, do so in the comments
  3. Hey everyone, Do you guys have experience with DSC or Paradox or Satel alarms? I'm just starting to dig myself in to the topic of alarms and I intend to start by trying to set up a very simple very small Satel alarm for the shed. But later on I would like to learn a bit more and the 2 main companies offering courses are the alarm makes DSC and Paradox here. I have neither the time or the money to do both, plus I think at this level that might confuse me more than be helpful. If you are familiar with eiter (or hopefully both) which one would you recoomend? Points I would consider are for example: User friednliness, installer friendliness, quality of their products (from panles to sensors), fullness of the product range (if they offer solutions for most needs). I know most people are partial to the brand they know the best. Thanks for your input

  5. Hi, I recently moved into a new house with a Scantronic 9800, but no user or engineer code. I had to refresh the NVM so lost all the programming. I have reprogrammed it, and it works OK but for a problem with a zone with 4 Viper inertia sensors. I can't get them to reset. By which I mean, if whilst the alarm is not set a Viper gets triggered, the comfort LED (as I believe it is known) comes on and stays on, and if I then go to set the alarm I cannot without first doing an engineer reset. If no Viper has been triggered before the alarm is set, all is OK. So, after a bit of research, I gather from a previous thread on this forum that one of the Viper's 12V terminals should be connected to one of the programmable outputs on the panel, set to 'Shock sensor reset', and was going to try this but discovered that I have a small additional PCB wired in between Output 1 and the Viper 12V +ve, as can be seen in the photo below. Does anyone know what this does and how it might work? With it in place I tried setting Output 1 to Shock sensor reset, with output state set to both +ve applied and -ve applied, as well as the default Set latch type 1, and none work (with differing symptoms). Should I just get rid of it and wire the Vipers directly to an Output? How is the LED on a Viper supposed to work, by the way? I imagine it is off normally when the alarm is not set, flashes briefly if triggered, then stops as the Viper is automatically reset. Is that right? I can't find much documentation for all this on the internet. Any help much appreciated. Many thanks Justin
  6. Hi Folks Hope everyone is well. I am looking for a bit of advice. Any advice is appreciated. I currently have a standard honeywell door contact sensor on my front door and patio door. It is already wired up & working fine. I want to upgrade them to Viper GLX Shock Sensor With Contacts. Do i simply cable the new Viper exactly the same as the existing sensor? Or do i need to use extra wiring back to the panel? Thanks in advance - Enjoy the weekend. Regards Zemme
