  1. Just googled this http://www.sourcesecurity.com/new-products/listing/1/product-profile/intruder-alarms/control-panels-systems-and-accessories.1/control-panels-systems-and-accessories/dsc-pc9155-intruder-alarm-system-control-panel.html It shows clearly that there are in existence two way and one way devices. Using a little in between line thinking Why would the advert distinguish between the two types if both did not exist and if only one way existed do you not think they would be in trouble from the advertising regulators? I am old fashioned and avoid all the radio/wireless stuff like the plague although I do have experience in the difference between the ones that work and the ones that work occasionally. The problem I find with radio stuff is that they are only as good as their batteries in as much as if a detector has a failing battery the only solution is to change the battery. It could be that the boffin is unaware of devices that talk to each other and depending on the system talk to the control panel too. Interestingly those detectors that send back signal levels to the control panels including the lower level that is indicated by low battery rather than where the hell has the device gone? responce tbc..
  2. My brother in law is over in Greece at the moment so I get a report when and or if he gets back however the political properganda is propaganda so we would be mad to believe what any of the propaganderist say. I just can't get over why most people haven't worked out yet that credit = debt and money also = debt. I therefore recommend we take this free course to sort our heads out http://goo.gl/zKxvNy vtp
  3. Just a comment on the wide range of resistance values the below quote should clear it up SATEL VERSA 33 Notes : • The sum of values programmed for the resistors R1 and R2 may not be lower than 500 Ω or higher than 15 k Ω . • In case of the zone expander, it is possible to program the value 0 for the resistor R2. The 2EOL wiring type requires that two resistors be used, each having resistance equal to half the value defined f or the resistor R1. • In the EOL wiring type , the resistance value is equal to the sum of values programmed for the resistors R1 and R2 To put it another way A reading of less than 500 ohms will give a short circuit tamper and a reading of over 15K will give a high resistance tamper.
  4. It looks like a) you can program the resistor values for wireless detectors and b) for hard wired you use the resistors provided. Using the values given for the different configuration. The fig 27 is the one that I would choose and the resistor values are the same for both the tamper and the alarm i.e. 1.1K therefore R1 and R2 are both 1.1K The different values that you are given is because they show another configuration in fig 26 where only one resistor is used and the value of that is 2.2K And the fun part All VERSA series control panels ensure very easy programming and activation. This results from well-thought-out factory settings and clear programming menus displayed on LCD screens. Additionally, VERSA control panels may be even more easily programmed by means of a computer operating the DLOADX program supported by Windows operating systems My personal view is that despite the technological advances made in the wireless alarm industry I am so old fashioned that I would never touch one with a barge pole, except for fun and entertainment value
  5. Just for fun When you find what values are expected by the control panel and usually the correct resistors are supplied with the panels to be put in the detectors, check that the detectors that you are using have or have not already got the resistors built into them. If they have check that the appropriate value is selected by fitting the link/s to the correct values and of course if they have got the resistors built in you will nor require the ones that came with the panel.
  6. I tended to use a 1/2" x 6 self tapper countersunk screw as it didn't allow for movement espescially if it was mounted on an uneven surface which alot of installers find is the only place to mount keypads for some reason or other. The shape of the backplate back tamper plastic wobbly bit (technical term) was shaped so that the screw remained in place and of course the tamper switch stayed closed unless someone tried to take the keypad off.
  7. He he ignorance is bliss until it kills you Matt you shoulda borrowed Arfur's terminal driver the one with the neon in it. And as Gazza says if you had turned off the supply first you could have opened it up safely and checked for any bare/not correct wiring. etc. I would rather stuff a server up than myself vtp
  8. Hi Arfur Brought back memories for me too. Great big warehouses with tube and wire frames as far as the eye could see. Sometimes it was bad installation other times it was leaking roofs and yet other times it was employees or staff hanging their coats or products upon the bars causing all sorts of faults. Anyway well done. I have not had time just lately to see how things are here but I thought I would have come back to a larger tome. Even been to a house that had just 2 circuits with a total of 72 flush contacts installed when the house was built, it never gave much trouble but was a pain to fault find on as all cables were buried and no jb's were used, good fun though. I think we should go in search of the old stuff just to get the photo's. I've still got some foil and wire lace (just in case he he) best wishes Vince
  9. Someome who obveously hasn't missed you LOL I'll pm you
  10. No No NO Too much like hard work. What you do is write a book giving step by step instructions on how you did it and set up a click bank affiliate program so others can sell it for you and you just do whatever you want in your retirement
  11. I was talking to one of our x buddies last week and he didn't know you had left LOL Take it easy, plan your week in a balanced way but always expect the unexpected. Great tip is plan to sell your new business some time in the future to a big company for a sum of money that you can retire on. Don't forget to get the Hondas serviced
  12. Congratulations mate. I knew you would see sense, but if you even think of going back give me a ring and I'll give you some free counselling Don't forget you should treat the Hcndas differently that the hexes All the best
