Who says you dont learn new stuff every day!
So your saying volt testing lead acid batteries doesn't give a good indication, but lithium would?
How would you best test a PIR battery then?
-
Ok , brand wise how do you rate Nexus gear?
-
Well if I can use wifi then great, but if not then 3g/4g dongle. Whats the best way to do this?
-
Going to price to fit a single camera/recorder inside a stall in a pub carpark, has power but no net.
What's the best route for getting net, router and dongle? Also how do people rate Nexus? Can anyone recommend a brand that suits this?
Thanks!

a volt check means nowt, you never did that on the sla as a good test. Depends on the gear experience will out.
Sorry but can you expand about the service level agreement? Why wouldn't a volt test give a good indication?
Other than testing amps what else can you possibly do?

Honestly I had no idea, so all lit up bell boxes need this? I wonder how many actually do this?
-
what's the issue with this and building regs?
-
thanks bud, I was on the right track!

why dont you wire it eol?

I've taken over a visonic system, owner has no idea when it was serviced. Which leads me to ask the question, how often should they be changed? (CR123, Bell etc?)
I meter the batt and change if below 2.8v but rule of thumb?

Thanks guys, it's simply for subby purposes and domestic work I do.

Who do you guys use?

Today I installed a monitor / CCTV camera that is linked into the main entrance into a shop, someone I spoke to said this isn't allowed.
Since when? Got signage!

£350 is for both of us, so £175 each. I don't see this as too much considering the insurance, fuel, tax etc..
Area is Essex + London
-
Sorry, RA? So there isnt a a limit? I was told a few years back 30 days max so all my systems have been set like this.
-
Is it still 30 day max recording to be in line for regs?
-
I've installed both, and prefer the Enforcer but the Visonic is cheaper. What do you guys prefer and why?
-
Guys
Myself and my colleague are taking the plunge to go self employed and sub, we are looking at a rate of £350 P/D
Honestly, is this a good rate? We don't want to charge too much and be greedy but same token not charge enough if the industry will pay more for quality time served engineers.
Thanks in advance

Falls into dpa, but you won't get permission anyway.
DPA?
So as long as one got permission from the council then cameras can be sited on street furniture? (lamp posts etc)
Why would they say no?
-
Could one install a camera on a council street lamp (with permission) overlooking public garages (all neighbors) and display a sign?
-
Hi All
Question is:
What is the score with a camera filming people / vehicles in a car park / street?
Obviously signage with a telephone number, but can a camera just be installed anywhere?
-
Really no one knows where to get a replacement handheld tester?

Evening Folks
My orange set died on me today, it was a Chinese import with multimeter, 485 etc, trouble is I can't remember where I got it from.
Can someone link me to a distributor or direct seller please?
Think I paid about £90
