Morning
Yes it doesnt make any difference if connected on RS232 or IP
Exactly the same? Have you got a spare 232 on the C4 - can you try using this instead of the one yr using now?
-
Thanks for the input so far, would it be worth switching back to the COMIP?
Do you get exactly the same problem with both ways of connecting?
-
I can reconfirgure the 232 to not be connected to the texecom, effectively the C4 is a virtual keypad
Configure it to do something else otherwise you're not proving if it works or not.
Is the CIE a common fault?
Never heard of it before!
The building is quite large and some of the C4 kit is in a second rack on a different mains phase, could this be an issue?
Are the 2 bits of kit connected by 232 on the same phase?
-
Optical isolator - as it says on the tin.. Can you reconfigure the 232 port on C4 to do something else (doesn't matter what) to prove it works properly? Might be putting out ***** and killing the panel?
-
Yep tried that, also replaced the PCB and PSU although same version.
Control4 thought it might be powered related so disconnected the LS, this seemed to help for 5 days but now seems to crash just as frequent again.
The other site is running Version 2.11
Any recent C4 firmware updates been applied? Try updating panel firmware? Do you have a ground between C4 and panel on 232? Does it still do it when you physically disconnect C4 and set from keypad?
-
Have you defaulted it?
Bit contradictory post too.. Does is fault when setting from the keypad? Does is fault when setting via C4?
-
What firmware is it using ?
Lol
-
are you getting a fault displayed on the C4 or intruder keypad? What specifically does it say?

We have 2 or 3 electricians who we work with and they will always put the spurs in for us and test. I actively use the fact we do not install the spurs (as we're not qualified and/or more importantly competent ) and those other firms just chucking in spurs are probably breaking the law.
Those non-electricians who install spurs - do you test the work you've done and do the paperwork etc? Thought not.

doesnt help with an answer but this is why unmonitored comm units are a bad idea. you need to know it will report when its needed.
who cares it's free!

I can't think of anything worse than an insiders guide on how to do our job which will be available to all and sundry on eBay/down the pub etc.. Why help all the plumbers and car washers steal our business??

screw wireless tat to wall, learn wireless tat on, test wireless tat, get customer to sign. pretty much it?
-
Works ok until someone quotes the blocked user, can also leave some conversations looking even more drug induced than normal.
but how do you do it?
-
how does the block user thing work?
-
And you come from " where the roses always shine" and commutable rape by immigrants within their family is allowed?
i don't remember saying that actually, can you direct me to my post where that was said please?
WTF just went and had me tea and the worlds blown up, all i said was iFSEC is moving
yeah, look what you've done!

And as for being full of excrement, pot, kettle.
But this is public, never looked at the rest.
Not good for ~JP to see trade thinking others charge more just because they dont like the area is it.
we have to travel for 5 hours to get there and spend £20 on parking to do a reset.
Thats a strange one "innit" as there is a 4 hour response..........to site.
Makes you think, ehh!
Sorry sir/madam,
see, yet again assumptions. you're assuming we have alarms in london aren't you. we do other things than just alarms and they don't require 4 hours onsite.
-
I did.
And said the same.
Your all happy to take the extra money, not the work and travel.
did I say Toss ers?
And in case some are wondering
Stone cold sober and sick of people saying London is a dive, which it is if you know it from 40 years ago.
But still is better than most provincial cities.
What I canot work out is how a few here slag it off, yet love the enhance income.
Some accept the higher charges when working.
Some smug toss ers are really getting on my tits about how they hate it and yet can afford 2nd homes from it.
Fair play,
But stop f u c k i n g moaning.
well you can't be talking about me as i don't have second home anywhere.
i never moan about working in london, i'd rather not but a couple of our biggest clients have things there we look after so it's not my choice.
work is work regardless of where it is but london is still a dump and generally full of *******.
-
Same difference.
You all want the money.
Not the ability to do the job.
Same as another thread here. Even has blokes in London, but cannot go a hour ( Which is wrong anyway) but dont mind the 4 hours on the motorway.
Toss ers
I did say that b4 I believe
sometimes you are so full of **** it's unbeliveable. if you care to read the other thread fully, the guy you're talking about is actually heading out on the M4.
-
What is becoming clear.
And I know for a fact is............................
You northern sprats come here and under cut us then moan when you have to do the service/additions and or wotever.
Then moan about the prices to work here.
Happy to pay **** all if you can manage it and spend £200 to save £40
Toss ers
i'm from dorset and i still hate london.
-
i detest london with a passion which is a pain as we there at least once a week. if i go it's because i want to see some very specific things so where it is has no impact on the decision to go or not.
-
Why do you want to disable the led. Its only the thief who'd see it....then its too late.
read my post above yours - it might be that it's not kept in sleep mode even when part set.
-
yeah i was wondering if you could have them off even when the system was armed and i heard it might be possible.
part set? bedroom? if a detector isn't included in a part set then i guess it would stay asleep and therefore no LED?
-
Does anyone know if you can disable/turn off the activity led on the Pyronix wireless PIR ref KX12DQ-WE?
And before any clever answers it still needs to work and no i dont want to stick tape or anything else over the led!
I thought they went to sleep when the system is unset (isn't that the point of 2 way?) and therefore shouldn't come on anyway??
