  2. battery could be knackered, seen batteries with 12v on meter but current reading less than 1amp, cells had gone low resistance, check battery resistance with meter.
  3. The are classed as Emergency Door Release, nothing to do with fire. As you stated if the door needs to be used in an emergency what do they do.
