  1. Hi: The post you replied to is some 10 years old now, so doubt you'll get a response.

Panel schematics were never issued to the trade by manufacturers only Installer and user manuals, if your trying to repair the panel for re-use you could be leaving yourself open to prosecution if it fails in the event of a fire.

  2. Yeah I can't say I'd want to go back to the old days of belling cables out, especially on large installs. Too much like hard work :o.

Most of the time I'm pretty good at marking up cables on 1st fix, but when your rushing to do a site things get missed. That's when the tracer is a godsend :).

  3. What, you mean when those lovely plasterers chop your cables ? Or decide it'll be great fun to move them from where you put them ?. On one big site we were doing, they had overnight security to stop theft etc. But our cables & the sparks cables were still getting chopped, so we rigged up 2 cameras in one block that had just been 1st fixed.

Caught the bloody security guard Red handed chopping cables.

I don't use mine that often, cos I'm a good boy & always label my cables :ninja::rolleyes:.

  4. Yes mate, at the price I couldn't say no. You know yourself they're not something we use every day, but can be very useful. The test-um is too expensive to be knocking about in the bag day in & day out, so if you pardon the pun: the Ideal will be, well ideal & also apparently functions like a sort of mini butt set.

  5. Take a look at the Ideal or Test-um ranges, both excellent value for money.

Think Test-um is under the JDSU brand now, a few used Ideal sets on eBay at the moment for very little money.

I bought an Ideal abs set today as a Toolbag set for £15 brand new.

As James said, there are cheaper sets about. They actually Start about £10 for a Chinese made set.

  6. Can't find anywhere in the UK selling them so far, looks a good unit though.

Yep certainly gets some funny looks. Strange how many ask to borrow them, once they see the kit in action.

Used to have the ideal kit, but that went at the same time as the butt phone.

The test-um is great for bigger sites as well.

  7. Hi & welcome.

If I remember correctly on your alarm, there's 3 Fuses across the bottom of the board. You've probably blown the middle one F3, it's a 1 amp 20mm glass fuse.

Yeah all China stuff being made to spec.....

It is all made to spec al, it's just nobody knows what spec .

To be fair, I have had some good well made stuff from China in the past. It's not all cheap tat.

  9. The point of this forum is that we help and advise people, which if you care to read the forum we have done for thousands of people over the years.

You were given the advice you asked for, as you have been whenever you've asked a question. Unfortunately that doesn't suit what you want to hear.

If you care to do a forum Search, you'll find that your questions have been answered many times in the past.

Seriously, I can’t believe why you are so unwilling to help me, if you have nothing to suggest, then with respect why are you replying to my  post ?

lets say installer 1 says alarm system A are the best ever,

then installer 2 says alarm system B are the best, then installer 3 says alarm system C is the best ever, they ALl have their reasons.

as a homeowner I have to simply guess which is the best, so my idea, as daft as you think it is, was to ask people ‘ in the know ‘ which is the best route and if one of my installers selects that, then end of problem, if no one does I can ask them to compare their choice with the forum recommendation......seemed a good plan.....guess without any further replies I will have to research elsewhere, just wonder the point of a forum that won’t offer advice....

I didn't say I was unwilling to help, I gave you advice "Call a local Installer" you seem to miss the point.

Your asking for advice on what panel is best, because local installers will give you different advice.

So will we, we all have our preferred equipment. Whether that be Honeywell, Pyronix, Texecom etc. So your really in the same boat.

If you ask most professional installers to compare what they specified with what someone on a forum has suggested, they'll walk out the door.
