  2. running on battery, the problem stops, no dip of 12V at every 10sec or 40sec the network supply is 100% stable until mains ins applied and the onboard PSU kicks in regards I have only just started to evaluate texecom elite 88 so a little new to the scene what was the old texecom psu issues ?
  3. Every possible measurement needed to commission and diagnose an intruder alarm can be done with multimeter If you have property large enough to need 5 expanders & lots of expensive test equipment I would assume some with your qualifications & talent could earn more more doing your own job & pay a proper alarm co. to provide a working complaint system rather faff around wasting time & money doing it poorly.
  4. Today
  5. As I understand it the PSU comes from Elmdene, when they failed they just stopped producing voltage. Compare it the ones o your the PSU2000XP's
  6. It's still seems like you have not tried what I suggested but whatever... Send it back is the easy option.
  7. I assume this isn't one the old texecom PSU problems ?
  8. if you run it only on the battery does the comms issues stop? if yes psu issue if no not psu issue its definetly not normal
  9. Thank you guys for your feedback I take onboard what you are saying But... I have previously mentioned.... if I only have two expanders and 1 keypad with no speakers attached I have the same issues !!! It is the control panel at set times causing this loss of power, 12V dipping for 50ms at 10 Seconds in to a minute and at 40 seconds in to a minuet this equates to every 30 seconds, this then happens exactly at the same time every minute, I state again this issue I am seeing is not over powering the PSU The alarm panel is instructing this action! I have spoken to the company that sold this panel to me a few weeks ago today and explained everything I am experiencing , he said he experiences the same and this is totally normal especially with the large digit blue proximity keypad ? I totally disagree, I don't believe this is normal, I do not want to see the 12V supply being interrupted at pre determined set times by the elite premier 88 alarm panel This is not right and what I would expect to see! the very worst way I think about adding in future a new high quality, higher current PSU I have decided to back this panel to the company as the is something not right somewhere ? I will look to purchasing from another supplier 1 keypad & 1 x expander should work fine with a stable 12V AUX supply. I clearly can not even achieve this But do really appreciate everyone's feedback
  10. I've got lots of it in the field, the oldest premiers are over 20 odd years, But the 2.5A of power is at 12v ? Chances are 5 extensions speakers will be almost all the current of the system !
  11. I have already said what you have is not normal. Have you tried what I suggested... There is still plenty more to prove, before I would consider hardware altho that's not to say you haven't actually got a duff panel/SMPS like I already said. You keep saying you question the kit but if issues like this happened to other companies in the field people wouldn't be buying them...
  12. Thanks Guys I am NOT disregarding people, I have OND/HND in electronic design, I design electronics every day of my life, I'm no fool and only choose to deal with the facts I design in Altium PCB cad designer every day with ST32F7 ARM Processors, I fully understand the fundermentals of electronic design, power and embedded CAN bus systems. I have provided the facts, this is not disregarding ! just simply looking to see if there are any other educated people out there that can apply logical comon sense from the facts provided or have experienced this issue themselves If you know your stuff ? you will know the average person does not own Keysight oscillosope The POWER SUPPLY is not dipping due to too much current being drawn, as I have alread explained, the max current being drawn total is 680ma, there is a 1 amp fuse protecting the supply ! there is enough head room I have used an my keysight oscilloscope to analyse what is going on with the network 12V supply and for 50ms at precise set times every minute the supply dips for 50ms My Fluke 87 meter is too slow to show this 12V dip The oscilloscope shows there is not much too power being drawn as the 12V supply on the keypad / network is 100% stable throughout, apart from two 50ms drops of power at set times every minute The best advice would be to add large 4700uf capacitor in the network 12v, this will provide enough 12v Supply for the 50ms dip every 30 seconds I will also add a quality 12V 6amp switch mode supply for the network, It will give much more headroom, but this is not the issue!! The panel is turning off the 12V supply in some strange act that is causing this fault Starting to question how good this kit is ???
  13. Well you came asking for help and your disregarding what you are told by people that work with this stuff every day. I have told you how to rule this out and some things to check, there are further things that need ruling out but it's not normal. To expand on MrH above, as a rule of thumb I would expect each power supply to have <~500mA quiescent per 7Ah battery to conform to BS EN; this is aside to your issue.
  14. Roughly speaking the controls will power- Its self & some detection devices 1 external sounder 1 keypad 1 extension speaker 1 communicator Maybe a 2nd keypad or an expander with mostly contacts on it It will probably need a 9ah battery to have the correct amount of standbay time
  15. Thanks for the reply even with only two expanders on the system on 2 meters of cable I still get the issues, I don't think this is too much kit on the system, the running current is 640ma ish This issue is the alarm panel is glitching the supply lines to the expanders and keypad every 30 seconds ! that is the fault in a nutshel YOU CAN NOT DIP THE SUPPLY FOR 50ms every 30 seconds and expect not to have issues, this should be a regulated 12V supply with NO interruptions The alarm panel is being intructed to dip the 12V network supply every 30secs, I believe as part of the battery test / monitor but this is wrong and causing network errors!! This is NOT random dipping of the PSU becuase of too much load, this is a consistant patterm twice every minute at exact 30 second time intervals! We can keep talking about type of cable, too much on the PSU etc, but even with 1 keypad and 1 expander on 1 meter of cable the same thing happens!! this is not a poor quality install, infact the attention to detail and quality of professional workmanship is more a professioanl install than most! This is nothing to do with poor install or too much on the system, its a 50ms dip in power on the 10 second of time and the 40 second of time every minuet, i think its by design as part of the battery test, though this is a massive design flaw if it by design!! All the hard ware has been purchased new, albeit the panel may have been old stock as the firmware was out of date ?? so it could be dated hardware not sure if thats the issue with older hardware thanks
  16. Battery load test is done daily with a delay in hours, the duration of this load test is in secs usually 10, it's not software! You have too much kit on the system, you have used CCA cable which isn't recommended, it's a SMPS so will get choppy under heavy load. It's my standard kit and it's not normal behaviour so your speaking to the wrong people. It also sounds like you have bought the kit second hand or old stock and can't get it to work, there is a possibility you've been past off with old stock with a duff PSU being V6. Either way there are clearly installation issues. The kit isn't designed for DIY installation and neither is the Smartcom. You also need to use a proper multimeter not wintex if your diagnosing this stuff.
  17. That's nice... did you read the installation book where it states the size of the psu & the current drawn by each texecom device ? You have the main board, 5 expanders, 5 speakers & a keypad I also assume you have an external bell(s) & powered detection All powered by the panel....
  18. Not sure on your panel psu size but if you ditch all the spks then what do you get. I haven't looked in detail but what's the day current?
  19. Yesterday
  20. even if i only have two expanders i still get errors when arm and disarm ??? i wouldn't think by the total current draw i'm exceeding the limits of the power supply but tomorrow could look into trying another 12v power supply, but would expect the same results as this always dips at regular time intervals its almost like its being instructed to kill the 12v for a short period, why on earth i will never know as this can not be right ??
  21. Hi Thank you for your reply Main board is D5112-02.03 Texecom 2011 not sure if this is old ?? it originally had firmware LS1 V5.02.01 now flashed to the latest firmware power supply has a sticker saying HAD1000-6 31/01/20 network lights .... red led on with brief flash off every 1 sec green led more on with multiple off within each sec yes cable is CCA CQR 8core Yes i did do a power on while holding restore defaults before restoring my setting after flash, I also had this issues before updating flash firmware, nothing has improved since updating firmware I seem to be getting mixed vibes about the dip in supply at 10sec and 40secs when the power defiantly dips for 50ms? people seem to think this is normal behaviour, but i can't stop the power from dipping ?? it always flickers the key pad leds briefly at 10secs and 40secs when the clock counts on the keypad design ?? I certainly would never interrupt the power to a microprocessor ARM design of mine as you would be asking for trouble ?? It would appear that the alarm main panel is instructing this behaviour at these two time periods every minuet so not sure if it is faulty hardware ?? I don't think there are any earth loops the voltages at source are about the same at destination as i have tripled up power lines I'm at a bit of a loss to be honest but not happy with such a simple setup and all these errors I don't have any pir devices connected at present, so the total current is battery charging, 1 x keypad, 5 x expanders ?? not sure if its a bit high ? even though i have spent a small fortune on all this kit, and was hoping to install a new alarm system to evaluate and connect the smart com etc. before offering to install this system, I may cut my losses now and ditch the lot as im starting to feel this kit is not fit for purpose sadly been a few weeks setting it all up and getting familiar with it all but very disappointed with all this new kit and the end results Thanks for any feedback,
  22. I'd assume both issues are connected, you shouldn't see large amounts of network errors. I'd expect to increase if more data is being transferred and will spill over to other network devices like you see tho. If the voltage line is dipping to near 10v quickly but intermittently it will show as data corruption and not a tamper. A list of things to consider:- Is it CCA cable? Have you tripled the power? Voltage at the last expander? What are the network lights doing? Did you factory default when you flashed? What is the hardware revision of the panel and PSU? Checked for an earth loop? Assuming the basics like cable and volt drop is fine, you can find out if these are related issues temporarily by simply ditching the +ve from the network and hooking up a clean power source like a fully charged battery from the other end of the network. I'd say you have far too much kit on one PSU if these are powered devices.
  23. thanks for your reply yes I have trebled up the power to each expander I design electronics and circuit boards in altium pro PCB design software and fully understand voltdrop and earth loops etc. Yes 1 x 16 ohm speaker per expander there is no speaker on expander 2 1 x speaker on alarm panel 1 x speacker ex1, ex3, ex4, ex5 but im sure i get errors even without speakers somethings not right ?? I have 5 speakers in total everything powered from panel, no external power supplies
  24. Hi 1. That isnt normal 2. If everyone serviced systems this wouldnt be required however it is a good idea but i understand your concerns but isnt an issue for a healty system your 16 ohms, they all on one or 1 per expander? how are they powered? if panel powered have you doubled or trebled up the power?
  25. hello all have a new premier elite 88 texecom alarm system that I am evaluating, so far not too sure ?? I have one blue led keypad 5 expanders 8 XP 1 x 17 AH battery 1 x flasher board to update firmware have configured the panel via wintext and flashed the latest firmware 6.05.03 2 expanders are wired close to the panel and three expanders are wired away from the panel on 15 meters of 8 core alarm cable (i use 3 cores for 12v and 3 cores for 0v, 1 core tx and 1 core rx) there are 2 issues I have although the system all works fine, i keep getting expander network errors in wintex diagnostics?? why 1) I keep getting random incrementing network errors on various expanders when in wintex diagnostic mode i seem to get more network errors on the 2 expanders close to the panel ??? rather than the 3 on 15 meters of cable? what on earth is going on! there should be zero errors when in diagnostic mode the errors seem to increase when arming and disarming system ??? 2) the second issue is this awful battery test the panel does every 30 seconds by dropping the 12v to the network so all devices blip/lose power for 50ms every 30 seconds this can not be healthy for the electronics to constantly be interrupted on the 12v power lines even if it is for only 50ms ?? can this battery 30 second be turned off ? i'm also wondering if the dip in the 12v every 30 seconds is causing network errors in the wintex diagnostics as i have 3 16ohm speakers on the expanders and i can even hear the audio from the speakers blip every 30 seconds when arming and disarming Im just wondering if I have a faulty panel, but i have read that this is normal activity, I was hoping adding a battery would stop this blip of no 12v on the network but i still get it even with a brand new 17aH yuasa battery any help would be very much appreciated as i may end up scrapping the whole system as i do not want network errors thanks in advanced

  27. A usually full set Others are part set I think keypad will only show those names as you set and the online app feature will show the name you have to it Unless you have changed the settings for what the other keys do it might be why it's showing the same , You have manual?
  28. Is an ion 40 or something? Also it's only one installer mode , with options for a b c d setting options
