January 13, 200620 yr comment_82811 Hello people Correct me if iam wrong but soon as a screened cable enters a panel it should be striped back to about the point of entry, then screen should be sleaved to an earth terminal (only when the screen is in use) Also out of interest does a screen have to be sleaved in (Earth sleaving) as its not actually an earth? What would NACOSS say? January 13, 200620 yr comment_82890 Good practice to sleave the screen to prevent accidental short circuits The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not) Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/8924-using-screened-cable/#findComment-82890 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 January 14, 200620 yr comment_82906 I've done both, kept the jacket on the cable up to the panel's earth point, then connect, or strip the whole lot back, then sleeve the drain wire, keeping it long, and connect to earth then. It is a wise idea in that case to sleeve to avoid shorts like stated. January 14, 200620 yr comment_82907 I agree to sleeve, but it is a functional earth, not a protective earth, so should be sleeved cream.
