You probably bought the wrong transformer, I would look at replacing your control as it would be uneconomical to replace just the tranny in an Xm.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

10 minutes. Must have been one of Maplins better ones

On a more serious note, transformers usually last as long as the panel, and to have the replacement fail as well seems extremely odd. Are you sure it is the tranny that is faulty??? :hmm:

Pretty certain, there was no output from the low voltage side and the new transformer did fix things for a while although it is physically smaller than the old one so probably not enough guts!

You paid more for the transormer than the panel was worth.

Check the pcb behind the keypad if its black dont bother trying to fix it.

PCB looks fine but it's black behind the transformer and all fuses are OK. Trouble is locating a replacement trans as I have no idea of what the spec is. Thanks anyway. :hmm::hmm:

If its black behind the keypad the pcb has burnt out. You need a new panel TBH.

Very rare for a tranny to go U/S, what voltage did you get/look for from the tranny, It should have been around 18v AC.

Thanks to all for your advice, I have decided to replace the panel anyway. If it was the transformer then it's imposiible to get a replacement and if it wasn't, then something more complex has gone wrong so either way, the old panel is bin fodder. Does anybody have any tips for maintenance whilst the whole system is powered down?
