Adt Sounder Battery Replacement?

Featured Replies

Hi All

I had a problem with my //.National Installer.// alarm system, it turned out to be a failing battery, can anyone advise me if the sounders required batteries to be changed and if so is it a DIY job? The system has been in for about 7 years and the main battery had been in since then so it was overdue for a change anyway.

1) Do you have contract wiht //.National Installer.//?

2) DIY job? NOT really.

3) Batteries? Definitely batteries need replacing after 7 years.

If you don't have contract with //.National Installer.// you better post your location and ask if some trade member of this forum could contact you. Alternatively search yellow pages and try to find some SSAIB or NSI approved company within your area. Your alarm systems definitely needs checking that everything is OK.

Contract with //.National Installer.//? :-O it would be cheaper to hand over all my stuff on the street corner and buy new! I am willing to pay for someone to replace the batteries in the sounders and check the sytem over, I am in the North West near Leigh (Wigan Area). If anyone is interested in quoting for this work then please get in touch, yo can email to:

Maybe a tad generous, wouldn't want to leave a battery more than 5 years personally, though from regular testing it is amazing how many don't survive with a useful capacity for even that long..

Trust you mate

Practice in the morning, practice at night. Practice in the evening, until you get it right.

Only make sure you are practising in the right way at the right time for it.

Aren't most sounder batteries soldered to the PCB ? - is it worth changing these or do you change the whole sounder?

Some are soldered on, most decent sounders have replacable batteries. Changing the whole thing depends on what the existing one is like, and whether I'd benefit from having my number on the wall. ;)

- Nice One !!

Is it better to have replaceable batteries then - I guess so, but would this mean that it's easier to disble the sounder? What ones have you found with replaceable batteries / would you recommend?

Thanks.

PS I'm also looking for a decent panel, possibly PIRs - in essence a whole system - have posted the question here - http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/comm...?showtopic=9685
