Guest Gman
Hi, great site, lots of usefull info. I have a Scantronic 9448+ driving a CEQURA 2 SAB on the front of the house. I have all the user manuals and engineer codes so can disable the system to do walk tests, measure battery charge/discharge volts and change programme options at the control panel. My question is, when my panel is in engineering mode, will this also disable the CEQURA SAR, I would like to check its battery, but dont want it going off in my ear when Im up a ladder! Thanks Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/7794-opening-an-sab/ Share on other sites

No, the sounder will activate whether the panel is in engineering mode or not. Guest IM_Alarms
Get a pair of 'ear defenders' from a hardware store or DIY store. . . . . Oh and if you like your neighbours then get them a pair too!! Guest Gman
Or better still check the battery from the control panel. Many thanks for your replies, I had a feeling this might be the case. I've already got ear defenders on my hard hat, so no need to go shopping! Peter, do you mean that if I measure the SAR hold off volts in my panel, that will give me an indication of the state of the SAR battery? Should I disconnect them and measure with the sounder going? (Neighbours will love that). One other question, if I connect the SAR tamper return wire to 0 Volts, would that stop the SAR tamper switch from operating if I open it up? Thanks again. One other question, if I connect the SAR tamper return wire to 0 Volts, would that stop the SAR tamper switch from operating if I open it up?Thanks again. the tr wire is 0volts Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer. I did look at the maintenance advice, but could not see much about checking SAR battery. As a matter of interest, do you pro's check SAR battery operation as part of a routine service, or do you just change the battery at set intervals? It also says in the CQR blurb that a battery fault will show as a simultaneous flash of the green LEDs on the beast. Mine are flashing normally (alternately), so is that a good enough indication that all is well up there? Brian c
Yes. Testing the SAB is part of a routine inspection. If you don't know......ask. Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/7794-opening-an-sab/#findComment-72506 Share on other sites
britops
I pull the +H wire out of the panel to see if the SAB/SAS battery is dead or not on a routine. Guest Guest
I pull the +H wire out of the panel to see if the SAB/SAS battery is dead or not on a routine. Thanks all, Pulled my hold off +ve wire, and my SAB works big time! I would suggest that DIY maintainers do not do this unless they have full control/documents for their pannel. If in doubt, call a pro. and get them to check it. Regards Gman p.s. Your advice was much appreciated.
