veritas r8 unset problem (again!)

Featured Replies

hi all

have checked all previous posts for vertias r8 trying to find a solution to my problem.

usual scenario : i have moved into a new house and i can't set the alarm.

i can do walk test/ chime test etc but i can't set the alarm.

the problem is that the "UNSET" led flashes continuosly.

i have looked in the manual and it states that if i can't set the alarm, then the alarm could need serviced.

my question is can i do a reset of the system myself?

i know the engineer code is 4321.

if i do a reset, will i loose ALL my settings? ie. zones etc

many thx

If the green unset light is flashing permanently , this indicates mains failure (how long has it been flashing for?)

Before you go prodding around the fuse box etc. be careful around 240v mains voltage.

Regards.

we moved in on 1st april and apparently it started flashing the day before (typical! )

when you say "mains failure" do you mean that at a power cut of some description has

upset the alarm system.

i have spoken (briefly) with the engineer who installed it originally and he thinks that i could need a new battery...

Why not get the original installer in to give the system a check over (battery should be changed at 5 years max), and set it up as you require eg. entry / exit times etc.He could then show you how to use it properly and reset the user code.

Regards.

yeah - just thinking that myself!

thx

The power light flashes to indicate mains failure

How/what makes you think the engineer code is 4321?

Does the unset light flash all the time or just when you try to set it? And when you enter your user code what happens bleeps/led flash?

When a valid code is entered the unset light will flash, press RESET and it should stop flashing.

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
