Excellent, Gary.

I would suggest "Sam's Teach yourself TCP/IP in 24 hours" as an appetizer for networking. But as Gary said there is LOT's of stuff in internet and in other books. But as always it is good to have some basics first so you understand what you are reading when it comes to tough info.

I first learned networks through trying and then trying again and had read this and that so i knew a lot but just lots of fragments and wasn't really able to use all the knowledge i had. Then I started reading something light (book mentioned above) and gradually those fragments came together. Lately i have been helping IT-experts in fault finding. Not anything i was able to solve yet but they at least are asking my opinion already LOL.
