optima 2 plus 8 zone steel enclosure

Featured Replies

hi there, i need some help? i have an optima 2 plus alarm system that i do not want to replace and that has developed a fault. the charge circuit is no more! i am only getting 1.2v through the batt leads, i need to know if anyone can repair it, or cna anyone tell me how to repair it please and if so how much

thanx in advance

SOunds like the load resistor for the battery charging circuit has burnt out due to not have the alarm serviced, which is due to the battery givening up.

Look for the burnt out resistor or the un explainable black bit.

No PMs please unless i know you or you are using this board with your proper name.

Its not very often that the load resistors have actually gone, usually the voltage regulator IC has given up, or if your lucky just the copper track to or from the said load resistor.

Ditto, I still have customers that are reluctant to change them, but when they start to play up, It's time to make the move to a better panel. They were great 99% percent of the time until you get any kind of surges or static... i.e lightning! then we get a complete memory loss .............. err what was i saying? ;)

To be fair, the last one I replaced was due to a lost user code. :w00t:

It was replaced as the tenant smashed everything connected to the alarm in the reception area off the wall, (except the ES ), and then it stopped.

What was left of the system was chewed by rats so there it sat, an Optima 2+ ES all on it's own in a broom cupboard with it's arms and legs removed.
