Alarm Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi

I'd be grateful for any advice from anyone with system upgrade knowledge/experience.

I have an installed ADE Optima Compact that is around 24yrs old and needs replacing.  I do not want to go down the wireless route but I'm not sure if I'm restricted in alarm system choice that I could upgrade to using all the current original wiring??

I would also like to add an additional key pad at the back door without running an additional wire, I have read some hardwired systems also have wi-fi functionality, is this possible??

Any system recommendations to upgrade to??

Thanks

Your going to DIY it?

Scantronics ion 40 if that's the case

If not then hkc and others will say texecom?

You said no to wireless then said WiFi keypad , so you mean yes to wireless where needed , most panels these days will offer hybrid options

Thinking DIY if not too taxing, and correct wireless for the extra keypad, the rest using existing wiring assuming its the same.

I'll have a look at the Scantronics ion 40.

Thanks

There's always taxing problems lol

They still do the free cloud I believe but for DIY it's not bad if you can get your head round it

Am I right in thinking I could just change the control box and the existing sensors, keypad and bell box would all just wire in??

🙂 I feel confident to give it ago, just trying to understand wiring compatibility between units and if I can add wireless to hardwire, which I now believe I can.

Well if you use supervised loop then you will save two cores at each detector

Currently you might have a global tamper , but you won't need that
