Rekusu
What ho one and all, I have an Accenta Gen4 Mini control panel and a single Reson 8 bell box which I installed myself when we built the house 15 years ago. I have replaced the panel battery a few times over the years. Recently when setting the alarm, there was a loud beeping (not the alarm, about two per second) from the sounder, so I did not set. Decided new batteries required so bought replacement 12v for the panel and 6v for the sounder. However, that did not solve the issue. Next easy step, replacement bell box and found a new (but obviously old stock) one on eBay; fitted it yesterday. The installed battery was reading 4.2v so replace that with the new one, reading 6v. Unfortunately, that did not solve the issue. What I found with further testing, the alarm appears to be working fine when running on batteries (no beeping) but when I engage the mains fuse, the alarm sounds (which I cancel with my code) but the beeping continues. Presumably there is an issue with the mains but what? I only originally replaced the batteries; I did not adjust or tighten any of the contacts. I have checked the fuses which are all OK. What can I do next? As an aside, since the new Reson 8 battery is reading 4v, can I put that onto my electronic car battery charger with the 6v option? Many thanks Edited October 27 by Rekusu Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/47401-reson-8-unexplainable-beeping/ Share on other sites

Rekusu Posted Monday at 14:16 Author Share Posted Monday at 14:16 I am no further forward with this issue. The new battery shows 12.8v and the transformer output around 12.6v. But surely this would not be causing the bell box to beep? I have found that both a new bell box and the original are both doing the same; they are working fine on battery but when I engage the mains fuse, the bell box kinda does its thing. Enter my user code and most of the noise stops, the RKP responds correctly BUT...... this loud, two per second beeping from the bell box. Not as loud or consistent as the siren but definite;y not something to ignore. If it is a low battery warning (not really possible as the bell box battery is also new and reading 6v) then what is it warning me of? It is not the gentle beeping of a smoke alarm battery warning, this is a disturb the neighbours noise. Only happens when the mains is live. Given that there are only five connections from the panel to the bell box, there is obviously a strange signal being sent. But how do I find it? The bell box is a Reson 8 and does not have a piezo buzzer (the noise is certainly not a buzz) that could be disconnected. There is only the alarm siren and to the best of my knowledge, this loud beeping is originating from the sounder module. During testing, all the PIR sensors do activate the siren, but when silenced with my code, this beeping is still present. Alarm.m4a Just to reiterate, this noise started a few weeks ago when setting the alarm. I consequently replaced the bell box and panel batteries; not the solution. Bought a replacement bell box (another Reson 8 that had an old, low voltage battery and replaced with the new one); again, that did not solve the problem. Grateful for any suggestions as to how I can isolate/resolve the problem?
