December 29, 200421 yr comment_35666 Can anyone recommend some good free software for data recovery? I have lost access to a hard drive with lots of files and an XP installation.(If I try to startup, system constantly reboots) I have tried lots of methods to repair and reinstall the installation. I have a fresh install on this disk with xp installed and other disk on IDE. Somehow, I seem to have converted the disk from NTFS to FAT32. Windows XP and DOS see the disk as 10gig FAT32. The disk is 160gig. I have tried to convert through DOS but it says there insufficient space. Ideally I would like to logon to the existing installation but any data recovery software would be good just to save some files. I have tried PC Inspector File Recovery and RecoverMyFiles and recover command in DOS. Any suggestions please??!! If you don't know......ask. December 30, 200421 yr comment_35803 I think the point is that all of these offer free trials so you can evaluate them against your disk, i.e. are they likely to do the job? But if you want the professional product that really does the job you have to buy it. Bit like alarm installing......................................
