Brian c
The lux level of a camera is the light level that it will still be able to produce a picture at. therefore 1.0 is dark 0.1 darker and 0.01, darker still. A camera that can still 'see' at 0.01 lux is better than one rated 0.1. If you don't know......ask. Guest Peter James
No matter how low the lux level the camera still requires some light to see. .001 lux still will not see in pitch black. Garry
If you have a site your looking at Eddie my best advice to you is to make sure it has adequote lighting if it hasnt you need to fit it as cameras are clever but there not magic and customers tend to forget that sometimes..... Merry Xmas You can lead a horse to water but you carnt climb a ladder with a bell in both hands. Guest PaulR
People do expect too much from CCTV, I think. 3 lux you will be able to read a newspaper unaided. 1 lux will be a struggle. 0.01 you might be able to see you have a newspaper in your hand. Anything below that you will not be able to find the paper to read. Pete 34917[/snapback] i would say use a lux meter dont belive the camera spec s some say low light 0.1 but thats at the face plate in a lab most camera spec s are true but only in lab if its at face plate that is with no lense on the camera but it will still give 1vp-p on a scope put a lense on opps no 0.1 lux Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/4590-camera-lux/#findComment-35092 Share on other sites
Guest Andyp
To cover my a**e I always state a minimum required light level of 5 lux for monochrome and 10 lux for colour. This would obviously be dependant on the scene and the type of lighting.
