December 17, 200421 yr comment_34819 Hello guys Father-in-law wants me to wire in an extra PIR to the spare/last available zone on his panel. His siren I think has a hold off facility, looks like its got a Flashguard module inside (from looking at it from the ground 20 foot away). Would anyone correct me if Im wrong, been a couple of years since I installed one, you ground the strobe wire 3 times to enter the sounder into hold off mode? It then stays like that for 15 minutes to gain access to its battery? I want to go down this route to avoid unwanted noise, because I will have to pull the panel from the wall to poke the zone cable down into the panel..Would anyone know the make and model of the housing so I could find some instructions about it? Best Regards to you all at this festive oppotunity for the previous help Alistair Echlin Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/4582-siren-housing/ Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 December 17, 200421 yr comment_34821 That's a Texecom Odyssey 1. You activate the strobe three times, which puts it into engineer hold-off mode. I'm not sure how long this lasts, but I do remember that the LED's flash twice as fast if it is in hold-off mode. It might be a better idea to connect the hold off terminals to the panel back up battery while you remove the panel, as I think the hold-off mode only stops the siren sounding on bell tamper, so you can change the bell box battery etc. It may activate when you completely remove the hold off supply to the bell, regardless of the engineer hold off mode. You can get a manual from Texecom. December 17, 200421 yr comment_34828 I think the Texecom eng. hold off is 15 minutes. I've got a spare set of battery leads with a length of alarm cable attached for doing this, you can put the battery on the floor then out of the way when changing panels etc... without having to put the siren into eng. mode Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/4582-siren-housing/#findComment-34828 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 December 18, 200421 yr comment_34881 Many thanks for the advice. Im on the edge of caution really, adding the extra zone is easy, only need to slacken the panel about half an inch and program the zone in, but obviously what I dont want is the siren going off and being a nuisance. So then, all I will do is remove the trigger wire to the bell, ground the strobe 3 times and basicly lengthen the battery cables. Is that the kind of way you Pro's would look at it? one again Alistair Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/4582-siren-housing/#findComment-34881 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 December 19, 200421 yr comment_34988 Alistair, its texecom not gardtec. Try texe.com Dave Oxendale York based security systems engineer.
